Saddened by my lack of progress with reading OSCAR

RE: Saddened by my lack of progress with reading OSCAR
Thanks Dave. She's amazing. Golden Retriever. 9 now. Morgan!
Winston was 10 1/2 when he passed; Bentley 12-1/2; Quin 14; Sir Charlot 16-1/2. Had 2 Goldens for the longest time; miss having two. However, Morgan has pulled me off my feet. Showing my age. Smile

They all have had lots of hugs. Incredible family members!

Those Golden Retrievers mostly are quick to get the hang of tricks for treats. I wish a great sleep to you tonight Dave and friends.

Sleeprider, I'm delighted if my screenshots help but I must say I'm surprised you missed the dozens of similar screenshots I've posted over several years, not to mention my frequently repeated descriptions. :-)

I'm not complaining & no offense is intended. just a friendly ribbing!

idk if variable breathing is the same as periodic breathing but my plm pattern is clearly periodic breathing. no surprise there since plm is periodic by definition. periodic breathing probably has a variety of sources; plm is one of them.

DaveL, responding to your pm: I'm happy to try to explain what to look for but honestly, idk how a narrative description could be more helpful than a picture. just look in your flow rate graphs for patterns like the pic in post #16 above. look for a more or less uniformly repetitive pattern of an inhale spike followed by several lesser breaths, followed by another inhale spike. some tracings may be darker under the zero line (in my case a grunt or moan in complaint). it's inconsistent so you might have to look through a number of nights to see it. if you don't see it (maybe your zinc is working!), I'd guess you aren't having it but while I've seen this pattern in the screenshots of quite few other members, idk if it presents in the same way for everyone.

Thank you everyone.

I would be lost in my treatment without the help you give.

I would still be buying what my sleep.doc.from.h*ll offered, from the company store. cpap would be a brick that gave me no information; one mask fits all--no choices.

compliance is turning the brick on and wearing the mask. 4 hours a night. every night. (It was like doing time. Know the expression? If you can't do the time, don't do the crime---{I've worked in 15 jails as an engineer}

This is an amazing forum. You have all improved my care and my life so much.

It may not be politically correct. This feels like a brotherhood. You are all special.

And I would do anything I could to help.

Thank you.

I don't know what I don't know.....

I'm interpreting my post today as mouth breathing. Leakage all last night. Feel overly tired today, like I hadn't slept.

Just read Gideon's Bible. It's incredible...but I don't know whether I'm mouth breathing or mask leaking. And MyAir is saying to adjust my mask. What the heck?

Dave

some day I'll figure this stuff out.

myair doesn't know mask from mouth. the worst of yours are mouth leaks.

with your training maybe you can come up with a novel mouth leak solution for us all. meanwhile, 2Sleepbetta gave you some unique suggestions in your main forum thread to try.

trial and error, Dave. it's a crap shoot. keep trying!

Thanks sheepless. Been trying longer than most folks.

As an engineer/project manager I would have quit long ago. Too many variables.

As someone with OSA I cherish memories of waking up happy and well rested. That's happened about 20 times in almost 35 years.

I think most mask designed should be flogged with their masks. After being forced to wear them for 8 hours a night for a month.

Howdy Dave,

Just out of curiosity, is there any reason as to why we can't move this thread to the Main forum since it deals mostly with your therapy?

If you feel there's too much personal info on the thread to be moved into the public forum, that's fine I guess, but normally we do all therapy threads in the Main Forum.
