Sefam DreamStar Auto, any ideas if good?
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to ask for your opinion on this machine, the Sefam DreamStar Auto. Sefam is the new appellation for the Covidien brand.
Here in Istanbul I can get this machine for maybe 2/3 of the price for the S9 AutoSet, or maybe even a little lesser. The S9 AutoSet with H5i & Mirage FX mask cost USD 1000, while the Sefam costs only USD 660.
Is there anyone who's using Sefam and is happy with them? Would love to hear your thoughts on the issue.
I'm on the brink of buying the S9 AutoSet but may change mind as well.
Thanks for your help.

I don't know that particular machine. However looking at the specifications is seems the data reporting is pretty limited. Most of us on this forum become data junkies as that is the best way to fine tune the treatment and get the very best possible outcome. The better known machines (ResMed, Respironics, Fisher & Paykel etc) have data-capable versions which are compatible with the SleepyHead software. It would be wise to see whether Sefam is either SleepyHead compatible or has a full-strength software available. Many manufacturers only make summary data available, which is not really good enough.
You might want to look at importing a Resmed S9 from the United States. Supplier No 2 on the supplier list (see links at the top of this page) has a good reputation and sells "gently used" and "out of box" machines.

Importing medical equipment to Turkey isn't so easy especially if second hand.
Anyway, found a DME and made a good bargain and bought a ResMed S9 Autoset with H5i. Thanks for the advice though.
