Should I Be Concerned?

The humidifier on my Resmed 10 AutoSense has something that concerns me. A brown mark on the metal heating element appeared a few days ago and suggests overheating. Has anyone here experienced something similar and did Resmed take care of it? My machine has @ 3800 hours run time and I purchased it on August 12, 2021.

How did you end up noticing a brown mark on the bottom of the humidifier? Burning smell? Malfunction of the humidifier?

Is that the heating element or the water tank ??
If its the water tank is it inside or out side ??
Was it run out of water ??
Try wiping the discolored area with some white vinegar
on a paper towel or dish cloth ..  That may remove it ..
If it does I would just continue using it ..

This is not an unusual mark, and I have seen in on mine from two different things. If you clean with hydrogen peroxide and leave it in the humidifier too long, the metal will tarnish to this color. Heating the humidifier chamber when dry can also cause this "tempering". Neither is a hazard, and I have always seen the stainless base return to normal color after some time. It does not indicate a hazard or malfunction. The chamber is easy to exchange for a new one if it starts to leak where the metal meets plastic.

That can happen when you run out of water.  If so, as Sauerkraut suggested, white vinegar will remove it.
