Someone please help me define "usage hours"?

Hi all, I'm new here.

Got  a ResMed 10 with the F20 full mask about a month ago.  No SD card.

I find that I take the thing off in my sleep (w/o realizing it) nightly, sometimes multiple times a night, but that's a different issue for another discussion.

Real question here is for those who use this model CPAP and the mobile app that's tied to it, what is meant in the mobile app's report as "Usage Time"?  Does this mean in a very broad sense how long the machine was turned on for, or does this specifically pertain to time spent with mask on one's face?

What's causing me to question this is that there are nights where my usage times are over 8hrs, my events per/hr are under 2, sometimes under 1 and yet I still feel tired the next morning.

I am beginning to think that quality of sleep is not being accurately reported, but I also think that takes me down a whole other road for a different thread, so to stay on topic, do any of you use this particular CPAP and what is literally meant by "Usage Hours"?

Welcome to the forum.

There is so much more than what you have stated to look at. Much of which does not show up on the app.

I strongly recommend that you download OSCAR and get an SD card so we can better help you. This allows us to base our advice on data, knowledge rather than guesses.

Usage Time is the total os the session times for the night.

What are your settings? One reason people remove their mask is that their settings are wrong for them.

I seem to remember that the place where I got the CPAP machine from told me this particular model doesn't take an SD card.  Instead, there's a chip built into the hose end that connects to the machine which transmits data?  Does this sound possibly correct?

If anyone else has this model machine and uses an SD card, let me know and I'll get one then download OSCAR, because the mobile app seems to me pretty useless as it doesn't offer any real drilled-down info.

Yes, your machine accepts an SD card. For whatever reason, ResMed stopped including SD cards with their machines.

I just got mine yesterday and it has a SD card in it. If it's not in the side door marked "SD", then look in your paperwork that's in the top of the case. There's a little pamphlet that has a clip inside that holds the SD card.

ALL Resmed AS10's have an SD card slot.  Resmed has been furnishing these models with SD cards in an on again/off again fashion.  There are two different wireless avenues that this model can use.  One is for the Doctor/DME. This service seems to allow monitoring of compliance and allow for remote setting adjustment.  This connection only lasts as long as the Doctor/DME pays for this connection service.  The second wireless connection is for a patient portal service, I think it's called, "MyAir".  This is nothing more than a "Feel Good" service that doesn't provide you with any data to guide you in optimizing your therapy, it just provides encouragement at best.

The data recorded to the SD card is so much more detailed than the data transmitted wirelessly, it is akin to comparing night and day.  Any SD card 32Gb or smaller will work with your machine.  To access the SD card's data you will need either OSCAR (preferred) or ResScan.

I absolutely believe that your DME told you that, and sorry, to be blunt, that is a bald-faced lie!  If there is not an SD card in your package there is a good chance they took it so they can sell it at an outrageous price.  There is a chip inside that will transmit summary and compliance info and if they subscribed, the lo-res data.  The only way to get the hi-res data is with the SD Card.  If you buy look for cheap, anything from 2-32 GB.

I just want to get to the bottom of why there are times when I still feel sleepy after a long night of CPAP'd sleep.

Hopefully getting the SD and downloading OSCAR will offer insight.

As bonjour stated, get any regular sized SD Card, capacity between 2-32 GB, any brand is OK. Shop for the least expensive within that capacity.
