SomnoSeal - stops mouth leaking

SomnoSeal - stops mouth leaking
5
I'm fairly new - started using CPAP in April, 2024.  With much help from the generous people on this board, I finally have a system that is working well, and the SomnoSeal is a crucial element.  I'm surprised that it hasn't been reviewed yet, and there are few references to it in the main board.

I'm using the Bleep Dreamports, which are comfortable and do not leak at all.  I was having major problems with mouth leaking, though, which I was not able to solve with mouth taping (tried multiple types of tape).  I'm using kinesiology tape, completely covering my mouth, but I still had significant leaking.

For the last few weeks, I've been using the SomnoSeal:  https://www.somnoseal.com/  I now have absolutely zero leaking - none at all.  I've posted Oscar results in my (very long) therapy thread.  I do have to tape over it, although another person who posted about the SomnoSeal does not have to use tape.  It caused drooling at first, but this stopped within a few days.  I left my SomnoSeal behind last week when I was traveling, and I am still waiting for the new one to arrive.  I've been double-taping (two layers of kinesiology tape) and using a cervical collar (needed for positional issues), but still have some leaking.  The SomnoSeal seems to be the only way for me to stop it completely.

One other thing - for some reason, when I use the SomnoSeal I have no problem at all with dry mouth.  With the double-taping/collar, I wake up with an incredibly dry mouth - not sure why this is happening, but for me it's another advantage of the SomnoSeal.

A bit more information - the device comes in small or medium. I think that the small would work for most people. I am a 5'8" woman, my son is a 6'2" man, both of us use the small size. You can order a starter kit with both small and medium.

There are two places to order it - the manufacturer's website and the Bleep site. Both ship very fast, the manufacturer charges less for shipping. The manufacturer is on the west coast where my son lives, and Bleep is on the east coast, where I live. I've been in a hurry when I've ordered so I've used the closer source.

I have some doubts:
According to the manufacturer, if you cannot keep your mouth shut at night, you should use mouth tape in addition to the SomnoSeal. But the latter advertised as superior to mouth taping, among other things???
Most of us use mouth tape because we can't keep our mouth closed.

However, SomnoSeal might increase the sealing efficiency of mouth taping.

RE: SomnoSeal - stops mouth leaking
I need mouth tape to keep the SomnoSeal in, wish I could wear it alone. But without it, I have mouth leaking, even with two layers of tape completely covering my mouth. And without it I get a terrible dry mouth - no idea why this is.

At the moment, I consider it essential. For me, it's a key part of my working system. If I can get the tongue position thing going, then I might be able to dispense with it and the tape.
