Sore Throat

Sore Throat
Trying to figure this out now. Ive been on my machine almost 2 months and now all of a sudden i am getting sore throats when i wake up every morning for the past week. Throughout the day its not as sore or irritated unless you yawn, and it feels like you are stretching or scratching it. I do catch myself at night sometime leaking air out my mouth, and i do use the easylife with pressure 15 and humidity between 5 and 7 on my icon. I just dont know what else to do, i just wish throat would quit hurting like this.

1- Getting up with sore throat is an indication of therapy air escaping out through the mouth
2- Mouth breathing can certainly dry the mouth too

The more your nose get congested, the more you,re likely to breathe through your mouth

Biotenne mouth wash can help somewhat and sinus rinse can help with the sinuses. Do you have the heated hose, if not, its worth having

Chinstrap can helps keeps mouth closed and minimize mouth leak and full face mask allows you to breathe through your nose or mouth so will still have the dry mouth effect, maybe a compromise can be achieved

Hi Tommy012175,
You might try a chinstrap, sounds like you are mouth breathing. How high re you running your humidifier?

If you are mouth-leaking and the chin strap doesn't fix the problem you'll have to go to a full face mask or a hybrid mask. Mouth-leaks prevent the CPAP pressure from keeping your airway open, so the machine can't do what it's designed to do.

If you are able to get your mouth breathing under control with a chinstrap, you might be able to turn your humidifier back a notch or two.

Ok so i used my full face mask last night and it was better.

But why would the leak say 49 for the full face. I never felt or heard any leaks. Normally i will wake up if i am leaking.

Nasal stays between 28 and 33.
