Bob, I don’t think SleepRider (SR, don’t mean to put words in your mouth mate) is saying you should not deal with your mouth leaks. They are inconsequential to where you are now. His wise words on learning air management are a critical CPAP skill many of us miss.
The first thing we need to do is stabilize your pressure. From there you can work on mouth leaks with a soft cervical collar, full face mask, chinstrap, or whatever works for you. While the leaks are not significantly affecting treatment, they are likely causing some of the micro-arousals you are having which impact sleep quality.
Get a few good nights in with the new settings which hopefully help settle things down. From there you can work on mouth leaks, then smoothing out the flow rate graph to reduce arousals.

I use an insulated (thermal) glass with a lid and straw. These are often found at discount or sporting goods stores and can be spill resistant and can be used many years. Here is an example, and it has lots of uses when traveling or just working around the house or office.
