Take humidifier to the tropics?

RE: Take humidifier to the tropics?
They will probably have bottled drinking water available, and if distilled is unavailable I'd buy a couple bottles of that to use in the machine. That is what I have done in the past. Only a small amount of residue was visible after two weeks away.

I second the bottled water vs a jug of distilled.

If the tap water is drinkable (as in safe)
If the sinks are not stained from the water (high mineral content)

Then it should be safe to put in the humidifier. The worst would be it gets a mineral deposit build up.

But if the place is not a remote resort, use bottled water.

Thanks again Zonk. Great packing list!
Oops - didn't see the further comments on the water.

Thanks so much everyone. This forum is GREAT! You are all so helpful.

RE: Take humidifier to the tropics?
I just thought I would report back. I was in Vanuatu on a small island for 10 days where the nighttime temps were in the low to mid 20s C/70s F and the humidity probably 80-90%. I used my S9 without the humidifier for several days, but still found I was getting dried out. I changed back to using the humidifier, and it felt better. Interesting given the high humidity in the air.

Hi Dooley, Glad you made it back and I hope you had a good vacation. I find that I need humidity from my machine year-round. We have high humidity here in the summertime but I still need the extra.
