Since you have a DreamStation machine, the only software packages that will work for you currently are OSCAR and EncorePro.  EncoreBasic will not work for DreamStation machines.

Also, since EncorePro is the official proprietary software created by Philip-Respironics, it may be the only software package that the DOT will accept currently.  OSCAR seems to be gaining ground and earning acceptance with some DOT people, but just wanted you to be aware that they may only accept an EncorePro report.

I just want to point out that I checked the system requirements for EncorePro. It’s a Windows program, so it probably won’t work on a Mac.

This comes at a horrible time, since I should be spending this time researching assisted living facilities for my elderly mom with dementia, and I’m not able to do it with this crap going on.

The lawyer said I’m not the only one who has had this issue. Apparently other non CDL apnea patients have received the same demand from Maryland’s DOT.

When you drop this off, plan out what you will say if they ask you questions about the report.

Maybe something like... Do to the quick turn-around I had to find a source online that could read my SD card.

And... As far as I know it is Apnea Board approved software.  All my data that you asked for is there to support my compliance.  I wanted to make sure nothing was left out.  You know, I’ve been doing CPAP for almost 20 years.

slightly off topic...

Wow! I have never heard of a state so restrictive with non-cdl drivers licenses.  The DMV has a page of stuff listed that you can be medically reviewed for and possibly loose your license: http://www.mva.maryland.gov/safety/older...-board.htm .

With xPAP being so common these days its a wonder that anyone is left driving on the roads there.  When you initially mention the DOT was going to suspend your license for xPAP compliance I assumed it was due to a CDL.  It's not uncommon for commercial drivers to have to go through this stuff.  I don't ever recall hearing of a state going after regular drivers like that.

If you use OSCAR to produce the report, fill in the second page of the profile, which gives your name, address, date of birth and contact details - makes it look nice and official. Having entered the data, save the profile, exit from OSCAR then go back in. Click on the Statistics tab and you'll see your full CPAP history laid out. You can select to have the columns arranged by month, or in "standard" mode (last week, last month, last 6 months, last year). Select whichever best tells the story.

However, DO NOT post the output here or in any public forum unless you want your personal details to be broadcast to all and sundry.

Cockatiel, I can sympathize with you!

If your Dr or DME can't print out a compliance report for you then I would suggest using the ResMed (ResScan) software available here.  Your state DMV compliance office is probably used to seeing these and they may not accept the report from OSCAR.

Philips machines do not work with Resscan Encore the Philips equivalent check the files and links section of the forum on how to get the software


But I have now read you have a MAC and no the software does not work on a mac

Thanks for your help, everyone. I was able to download the OSCAR software onto my iMac, and get data for 108 days off of my SD card. It was a bit of a hassle, because I tend to be all thumbs when it comes to doing anything with the computer besides using what’s already there.

I also have an appointment with a sleep specialist on Dec 30. In the meantime, I’ll first call my lawyer’s office, and then email this stuff to the bureaucrats. I’m going to keep the lawyer because frankly I don’t trust DOT.

This is getting spendy. Call DMV and ask if you can bring in your machine and show them the INFO screen use hours as I described earlier. Alternatively, ask your sleep specialist office or your supplier of CPAP supplies if they will print a report from your machine. This won't cost you a full appointment. Why are you not just contacting a CPAP supplier in your town and asking for help? Getting a lawyer involved is going to cost a lot more then their service to pull the information off your report, and won't solve the problem. A report is very easy to produce. You don't need a CPAP specialist, you need to offer a local DME a small fee to produce a report. If I knew what town your were in I'd tell you where to go. Don't make an easy problem complicated.

Yes. They may charge a reasonable fee if you don't have a relationship with them, but the way to approach this is to let them know you are interested in a continuing supply relationship. Your primary care doctor can then transfer the required prescription.
