[Treatment] Looking for Insight on my CPAP data

Looking for Insight on my CPAP data
Hi All,

I'm new to the world of CPAP. I was prescribed 4.0  to 7.0 pressure by my sleep specialist. They told me 5.0 was enough for me throughout my sleep study. Something tells me that 5.0 is too low. I am using the airsense 11 with the resmed p10.  I was wondering if there is anyone that can help me make sense of my data and how I can combat the flow limit spikes. I appreciate all the help! I also found it really odd why the pressure randomly spiked up from 5.0 to 7.0 during this night.

You are more likely to receive advice if you post your report using Oscar. It's a free download and easy to use.

You may want to increase pressure to 7-10, include EPR 3 full time. The short range accommodates the low pressure needs you show here, and also allows EPR 3 to work at its full capacity. EPR will help with FL combat you mention.

How does EPR actually help with the flow limit though? I initially turned it off due to LeftyLanky27's advice (YouTuber).

Also while I believe 4.0-7.0 was a low range to be prescribed, 7.0 to 10.0 seems too high, almost like it's going to crush. Is there a reason for that range over something like 6-9?

I have also gone ahead and attached the second nights data from Oscar as per Deborah's recommendation. I don't know if this provides a clearer picture.

RE: Looking for Insight on my CPAP data
Specifically speaking, EPR subtracts from the inhale pressure while you exhale. Machines will never deliver less than 4cm H2O for CO2 ventilation reasons, so the logic is to keep you at a minimum of 7cm in order to get the full 3cm differential with each breath.

Your chart shows that it was topping the 7cm for most of the night, so allowing the max inhale pressure to go up to at least 10 is a good call from where I'm sitting as well.

7-10 is not really high. Once you get into the teens you can start telling people you have high pressure. 10 is pretty average in my experience. Try EPR, it seems to resolve FL in many people. It all depends on what's causing them. Like AHI, FL is a boiled-down single number representing your breathing overall. There are many things that can contribute to FL, think of it as a grade your machine is assigning to your breathing pattern. Doesn't tell us which questions you got wrong. EPR seems to help quite a few people get their FL down. It doesn't help with every possible cause, but it's pretty easy to try.
Look, I'm an engineer, not a doctor! Please don't take my opinion as a substitute for medical advice.

I agree with SarcasticDave that you need to raise your pressure to 7-10 and use EPR full time at 3.  I think you would be more comfortable and have better therapy this way.  Give it a try.  You have nothing to lose. Smile
