[Treatment] Waking up worse despite multiple changes, life feels awful
#11
RE: Waking up worse despite multiple changes, life feels awful
Probably TL;DR, but here goes…

Apologies if some of this is repetitive, but I’m doing a brain dump so let’s see where it goes…

Like you I have issues with breathing only through my nose, but I have spent time working on getting used to both nasal pillows (in my case the ResMed P10) and also a full-face mask for those times they are just too clogged for the pillows (I use a ResMed F30). I spent many evenings watching television wearing a mask for hours with and without pressure. It felt silly, but in the end it worked for me. I have similar structural issues and use a nasal spray almost nightly. If it’s too bad I wear the FFM, otherwise the nasal pillows.

On the morning of 22/10/2023 things looked really good, other than the leaks. The leaks are likely jaw drops, so having a properly sized mask and soft cervical collar will make all the difference. Watching some YouTube videos on proper mask setup may help as well. Personally I can’t wear a chinstrap, but it works for many. StaceyBurke pointed this out earlier, so just repeating what he said.

Take the time to get comfortable with a mask. Any mask. No mask is perfect. You have to find the balance between too loose and too tight. There is good stuff here that may help: How to achieve the perfect mask fit.

As a suggestion, start with a min of 10 and max of 16 with EPR of 3. Don’t change it for a few days unless you really need to do so. This will help establish a baseline. Once you post the full night folks can look at them and offer more advice. If you do change it try to keep a range of 4-6 between min and max so we can see how the pressure changes.

Good luck and hang in there!
