[Treatment] simplychillin - Request for Advice/Treatment Thread
#11
RE: simplychillin - Request for Advice/Treatment Thread
Alright, the OSCAR chart from last night is attached. Key points: AHI 2.70, 95% leak rate 9.60 L/min.

This data could be off because I slept until around 10:30, not 7:12 as the chart suggests. I don't remember taking my mask off, as always, but I must've taken it off at 7:12, so that problem is clearly not fixed. Additionally, I woke up with one of the socks on my hands off, suggesting that I unconciously removed both a sock and my mask. Does anyone have any advice for this? I'm just so confused about how I can keep my mask on when my unconscious body is fighting it so hard.

In other news, I'm happier with the leak rate now; I tried doing a deep clean of the mask's pillows and that seemed to help. Am I correct in thinking that the leak rate is satisfactory, at least for now?

Also, I slept on my side last night, at least while I was conscious (I may have rolled over after I feel asleep, of course) and I'm not seeing any PA pattern. To be honest, given that the thing that motivated me to go after this was in all likelihood sleep wake junk, I'm not really concerned, but if there is still a PA pattern that I'm not seeing, I'd be interested in knowing.

So, in summary, my three main questions are:
  1. How can I get my mask to stay on, despite my unconscious body?
  2. Is the leak rate acceptable in last night's data?
  3. (implictly) Is there anything I missed that's relevant in last night's data?
Thanks in advance!

I would continue sleeping on your side, I prop an extra pillow and blanket behind me to keep me on my side.

Your leaks are much better, your CPAP can compensate at these rates.  I would keep an eye on them though, as leaks can cause arousals.  If you look at your leak spikes they will almost mirror your arousals and apneas.

I would stay with your pressure at or near the 10.6cm for several more days and see if you are feeling rested.

Wearing your mask while watching TV for an hour or two during the day might help you get more comfortable with it.  Good luck with your treatment and post more charts in a week or so.
