If I understand the replies, having an AHI under, say, 1.0, could still be accompanied by a RDI that might be a concern?

Sleepster, that is accurate, and we have seen members present here with very low AHI but high RDI and they successfully acquired CPAP through insurance. The problem is the Medicare defined criteria for coverage of 5.0 AHI with comorbid factors including a high arousal index, or AHI at 15+ without complications. It's really too easy to deny coverage for individuals with debilitating sleep disordered breathing that does not include apnea and hypopnea with 4+% desaturation that meets an insurance criteria, rather than a health based criteria.
