let me post here a remark/question although I am not sure it is ok here. Since the beginning of my CPAP therapy I have noticed little or no improvement concerning the main problem I was hoping to solve, i.e. lack of energy during the day. Nevertheless, along with abdominal bloating and perhaps appendix inflammation, I got rid of constipation and rhagades. Is there anybody else who noticed on him/her something similar? I am wondering if that positive effect is due to a mechanical action or to the fact that having air oxygen in my intestine reduces presence of some bacteria who can't live with oxygen.

RE: Digestive side effects of CPAP use
I can relate somewhat. In the morning (and after naps), my lower abdomen is distended from aerophagia. Immediately upon eating something, the air gets released. The peristalsis action of food gets rid of most of the air. I would think the aerophagia (air in your stomach) acts similar to say, fiber. It probably decreases constipation.
It would be like squirting air from a compressor into a pipe. If the pipe has some sludge in it or something similar, the air can move some of it out the other open end of the pipe. Not sure about rhagades.
