Zeno's therapy thread

RE: Zeno's therapy thread
Yes Zeno I have lots of variability from day to day I can have all kinds of CA events and usually very few obstructives but some hypopneas so definitely changes day to day using CPAP mode.
I've tried every mask out there and so far I've always been able to find a setting that gives me some variability but I can get sleep so finding the right mask for some is more important than others.
Best of luck!

RE: Zeno's therapy thread
Thanks again for all the helpful comments.
As chance would have it, without changing any settings, the last 3 nights have all been better with AHI 2.33, 1.77 and 3.02. So I'm just going to leave things alone while the numbers remain lower than they have been.

Had a good look at the Oscar 'Statistics' tab - 'changes to device settings'. To my surprise the best AHI was with the nasal pillows mask that I hated. Felt like I was being punched in the nose. Couldn't use it more than 6hrs a night and took regular nights off. The full face I use now is comfortable and can use it all night every night. But none of the pressure settings I've tried have an average AHI as low as I got with that first mask (and I didn't even try to optimise the settings with that one). So I do see trying other masks in my future.

Other than that, you've given me great suggestions and guidance to be getting on with.
Many thanks

RE: Zeno's therapy thread
I eventually decided to switch to a Bilevel machine and bought an Aircurve 10 Vauto. It immediately made a huge difference. AHI went from an average of 5 to an average of 0.5. I believe that I sleep better and I feel much more optimistic about it all, but I'm still experiencing significant daytime sleepiness. So I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the following:
1. After years of poor quality sleep, does it take a while to overcome a 'sleep deficit'? (and if so how long might that take?) and or does it take some time to 'learn' how to sleep again now that most of the disturbances have gone away?
2. Even with a low AHI, the Oscar data still seems to have a lot of bumps a wiggles in it - does that mean I'm still experiencing many arousals that might still be disturbing my sleep? What does really good sleep look like in an Oscar plot? I've attached the data for my best night so far (meaning lowest AHI). The flow rate chart has times when the data looks quiet (peaks and troughs all the same) and times when is it noisy (peaks and troughs vary rapidly). I've also attached two plots showing expanded timescale for two of the noisy times. Is this perfectly normal during a good night's sleep or is this something I should seek to reduce by fine tuning the settings?
