I am really wondering how fast you got used to CPAP and how high your AHI/RDI was to see if the AHI is related to how easy it is to sleep with CPAP.
also, did you have any tips that did wonders for you?

It’s a highly individual thing. I had a score of 22 on my sleep study. Been on therapy since early october. I am “getting” more used to therapy. But not totally.

It personally took me a very long time to get used to pap (I have a ventilator) therapy. What kept me going was the knowledge of the positive benefits pap therapy provides; and the negative consequences of untreated sleep apnea.
A soft cervical collar did wonders for me personally. It helps lower OA's and may even decrease pressures.

It's different for everyone. My AHI was in the low 30s. I slept five hours right away with no problem and adjusted quite quickly. I think that's pretty unusual though.

My AHI was 104 on my original sleep test done in 2001. I had no real problems getting used to CPAP and I have been 100% compliant. As to tips, I really didn't get any good ones until I joined this forum and downloaded OSCAR over two years ago. Since then my AHI is lower than it had ever been my first 20 years using CPAP. My AHI now rarely goes above 0.6 and is usually under 0.4. My tip, use OSCAR and this forum, the information you can receive here can do wonders...it did for me.

RE: how high was your AHI/RDI and how long did it take for you to sleep with CPAP?
Yep, it's different for everyone, but the key is to be committed and patient. My in-lab sleep study generated an AHI of 44. It took me several months to get used to my machine and find a mask that was comfortable and effective. It wasn't always fun in the beginning, but the health benefits are clearly worth the effort. I've been using a cpap for over 9 years now, and it's no big deal -- just something that's a regular part of my sleep hygene.
This forum has lots of useful information and many knowledgeable, generous people who are willing to help you. Good luck.

Mine was 32. It took awhile to get used to cpap. I would sit in front of TV and watch it for several hours while awake. That's what worked for me. Now 100% compliant after 8 years.
