I imagined when I saw the photo and made the thread, the mesh normally fit inside an insert like that:
Green is mine and red is what I imagine and this difference coud be the issue.
If not that definitely just a mesh density problem. But now has you said it's not fitted properly maybe...

hum if you speek about hte plastic part, it's glued you can't move it. I mean it's just the photo perspective.

Just tried that multi-hole vent: you hardly can breath if you close the inlet on the top, just as used with the other vent.
Main differences:
Con: It's significantly louder and there escapes much more air as in the meshed vent.
Pro: It's easier to clean.

I just recieve a L cushion and this vent work. It's definitly a mesh density/quality issue. Well play resmed's control quality guys.
Just by principe I'll return the vents and ask for exchange. If that could help in they production process.
Edit: there not really visual difference, just little more regular structure maybe. (hard to see without take it out)
