RE: terrible aerophagia - please help
Please forgive such a basic question.  I'm a newbie, still learning.

*What does an arousal look like on an Oscar flowchart? Also, how many arousals are considered normal per hour (or per night)?

*Also, what supports oxygenation...IPAP, EPAP, or PS?

Thanks !

oxygenation: improved breathing, so IPAP, EPAP, PS, EPR but typically PS and EPR have the biggest impact beyond just using a CPAP period.

RE: terrible aerophagia - please help
I'm gradually increasing my IPAP and EPAP, so I can soon use the auto mode on my Aircurve 10 vauto.

I uploaded some charts from last night (in S mode, IPAP 7.6, EPAP 5; effective PS 2.6). I woke up today with a headache, feeling lousy, brain fog, jittery:

*Do my minute vent, tidal volume, and respiratory rate look low?  (5' 4', female, 125 lbs.)

*The flow rate only ranges from about +12 to -12.  Is this considered low (diminished breathing)?

Thanks for any input.  I'm a newbie still learning, so any input on basic stuff really helps!

RE: terrible aerophagia - please help
Tried to re-edit previous post, but was unable.  Sorry for the repost.  I have a couple of concerns about my uploaded charts from last night.  I would be relieved to know if these look within normal range for my age/size.  Thank you.

*Looking at the Y axis on my flowrate graph, is the volume of air going in/out of lungs too low?

*Do the Med respiratory rate, minute vent, and tidal volume look low? (57 y/o female, 5' 4', 125 pounds)

RE: terrible aerophagia - please help
Hi everyone!  I made a post on 9/6/2021 with charts attached.  I was wondering if someone would be willing to give some input?  Thanks for considering.

Everything looks good.  I see the CA's at the beginning of  your session.  They could be sleep-wake-junk (SWJ), since they didn't occur the rest of the night.  If this is typical, the main question is, how do you feel?   That should be the primary concern now.

Also, you may wish to update your profile with your new equipment.

RE: terrible aerophagia - please help
Thanks CrimsonNape!  I was concerned that the respiratory rate, minute vent, and tidal volume looked quite low (even for a small female).  So you think they look within range of adequate?

I think the centrals at the beginning of the night were sleep-wake junk.  I do get occasional, sporadic centrals on many nights but there doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern of a lot of centrals.

If the CAs increase, you can always adjust the "Trigger" parameter to High or Very High. Based on your chart, they don't appear to be of any significance at the moment.

Volumes; Somebody came up with an average based on a person's size. That is like finding a person that is "average". It is just an approximation and nothing else. Again, how do you feel?

RE: terrible aerophagia - please help
Thank you, Crimson Nape!  I've been feeling quite fatigued, a little jittery, and intermittent headache.  I've only been on CPAP for 2.5 months.  I'm hoping this is normal and that I'm still in the adjustment period.  I'm still having difficulty with sleeping for longer periods of time.  Pre-CPAP I had an AHI of 67 during REM, AHI 28 during non-rem, RDI of 67, and oxygen saturation levels below 88% for 36 mins in a 6 hour sleep study.
