in middle of maxillary expansion, wake up every night right after falling asleep
Hi,
I had a maxillary expander put in in October and about 2 months into the expansion process I started waking up about 5-20 minutes after falling asleep every night. It's been about 6 weeks of this and it happens every single night, sometimes it takes a couple of hours to get back to bed so it is very disruptive to my sleep. I usually wake up once in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, and it sometimes happens when I try to fall asleep after, although this isn't as frequent of an occurrence as the initial wake up. This would occasionally happen to me before but on a frequency of maybe once a month or every other month. My doctor doesn't think this has anything to do with the expansion, and based on my googling I can't find any complaints like this related to maxillary expansion. Overall the expansion has been a net positive, and I have no reason to suspect it's related to this strange complaint other than it started happening a couple of months into the expansion.
Any ideas what could cause this / tips to help resolve? I've tried increasing my pressures, taking a night off CPAP, nothing really seems to make a difference.
