new DSX600, dramatic jump in AHI - ASV OMG!

RE: new DSX600, dramatic jump in AHI - ASV OMG!
I think we spotted the sweet spot for EPAP min at 5.0 a while ago, but it's always good in self-titration to have evaluated the alternatives. Swallowing air (aerophagia) is not uncommon as pressures rise and it's something to avoid. Everything looks very good, but at some point we should take a look at those flow rate spikes that seem to occur, and see if there are any antecedent conditions we can address. Your story is one I have used as an example to others to show what can be done by self-advocating and self-titration without the delays and cost of clinical titration. Well done!

Very good charts there. As long as this is your ongoing data and you gain restful sleep, you should consider your treatment a success. Congrats, and keep us posted.

Thanks Really appreciated the replies. Here is an update:

As a result of HELP from several ApneaBoard members I bought a pre-owned Resmed S10 ASV in 2020 with just under 300 hours usage. Nearly 3 years later, it now has just under 8000 hours. Machine has done its job well! Last month's AHI per Oscar has averaged about 0.6.

Can anyone tell me what the nominal lifespan (usage hours) should be for this device?

Does Resmed shut the machine down when a certain usage is reached?

Congrats on the life improvement! A Resmed machine will show a warning for "motor life exceeded" just before you hit 22,000 hours. The machine will continue to run until failure. At that time, it is possible to install a S9 / S10 motor that can be purchased from AliExpress and is an exact duplicate of the OEM fan. As long as the logic control board remains in good condition the machine life is only limited by the silicone housing around the motor and the case integrity. Resmed does not shut the machine down, but you should be planning for a backup or replacement any time after 15K hours.

I hope you will hang around and help others. If you do, you may want to update your user profile here http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/usercp.php
