[split]Innisfree - Therapy Thread
The person who told me the details of my sleepover did offer to give me a Bipap to trial. It would most likely be the one you recommend as I deal with Resmed financed people.  I had to shake my head a little as I listened to the doctor( not a trained sleep doctor). I asked her if I had any periodic breathing i.e. Cheyne stokes like respiration. She told me yes, a bit, but only when I slept on my back. Moments later she tells me that the sleep experts recommend that I trial a BiPap. Now if I was the sleep expert and knew that the problem I was there for was periodic breathing and the sleep test showed that I only had disordered breathing when on my back- I think it would be logical to conclude that I should be tested for positional apnea. So I told her that I would wait until I had spoken with the respirologist who had ordered the test to give me his opinion before making a decision about the BiPap trial. I also added that I would be having a cardiac ablation procedure in early spring and that it was uncommon but not unheard of for apneas to disappear after PVC arrythmias are stopped so I would hold off until the spring when the procedure will happen. Meanwhile I am shopping around for a night vision camera to film myself as I sleep to capture footage of my bouts of PLMD.

RE: Oscar profile vanished, SD card wiped clean. How? , who and why
In order to clear up a possible confusing aspect with positional sleeping. Doctors mean the body position, side, prone, back. Here at Apnea Board we're also discussing positional apnea but in a different aspect. Members here may mention positional apnea and refer to chin tucking and possibly other head/neck positioning aspects where you can bend your neck in such a way so as to restrict breathing. The restricted breathing is similar to more common apnea except it's externally created. This type of positional Apnea may be described like kinking a garden hose. And again in this context, it may be reduced with a soft cervical collar of proper size. However it will also be used with a PAP machine.

Just my opinion, but if a doctor is offering to help with getting the use of the ResMed VAuto, consider taking them up on this. It may open up better therapy for you.

Please read this Apnea Board wiki on the subject.
