Ocha's Therapy Thread

RE: Ocha's Therapy Thread
I'm so glad you are sleeping better.  Keep it up.  You are still quite new to pap therapy and are still in the adjustment phase.  You will feel better and better as your body and brain adjust more and more to having a foreign object attached to your face and air blowing up your nose. In time it will feel entirely normal.  Smile

I've heard rumours they really don't like if the patients fiddle with the settings too much. So at the moment I'm a bit hesitant to make too many changes before I get a green light from my healthcare provider. I have no idea how active they are monitoring the progress and how much adjusting they have time to do per patient but most likely not much and that's why I want to be as proactive as possible to optimize my sleep and health.

Hi, i've got the same healthcare in France, and i try many things(maybe too much). if u are afraid with that , i think u could change the epr to 1 without going in clinic mode.(becarefull for me less epr= more flow limit).
i used cpap since 2 years ,and my big problems are leaks; i tried to fix pression with epr1 and results are better, but i feel tired in the day. i am not a pro, i can just give little advice:
-for leaks: saline water in the nose to clean inside ; wash with soap ure head before sleeping
- have u got dry mouth when u wake up? : humidyfier, neck brace helped me

if the tube bothers you, there are suspended tube holders

don't be afraid in winter, if there are sounds in the tube: it's water condensation: get a warm tube

Thanks for the advice Steve!

Some nights my mask leaks are really low. Last night they were a bit high. I think I was moving quite a lot, I once woke up on my stomach which is quite unusual.

I'll increase the min pressure to 10cm and keep you posted with more OSCAR data.

I'll have a check up next week with my doctor. I hope he takes these tests on a positive note rather than criticising me for being proactive.

My doctor set the EPR to 3 without speaking to me. Do you think it would be worth a try to decrease it? Could it have a positive effect towards the flow limits?

Hi Deborah! Thank you for your encouraging words! I'll try to keep a positive attitude and be patient.

Hello jeje! Thanks for the tips!

I'm not too concerned with the mask leaks, usually the number stays low when I sleep on my side or back.

Luckily I don't have a dry mouth. I think nasal mask or maybe even a pillow will for work just fine for me (now when I got my blocked nose problem sorted with a steroid nasal spray). I've set the moisturizing setting to 5 and today to 4. Sometime's there is water inside the tube and that wakes me up. I've got the heating tube or whatever it's called. It's set to 26C at the moment.

I might have to adjust the tubing so that it hangs on top of my bed. Might make it easier to move side to side.

This forum is a big help. Thank you everybody!

Decreasing EPR would normally increase your flow limits.  I would leave it where it is for now.

it's true; for me: flow limit are better with epr3, bad with epr 1. high epr sometimes comes with AC; epr3 give me only 1 ac. i was scared with ac, i tought it could be grow up with the age; but i think i am going to stay with epr3 because flow limit is better. stay like this; maybe ask to ure doctor for maybe a higher flow rate? good luck
