what are people doing with the Respironics recall replacements?

what are people doing with the Respironics recall replacements?
Hello old friends -- I have missed this place. I moved across country and just heard from the owners of our old house that a Respironics package arrived for me. I'm having it shipped to my new address, but wondering what people are doing with their recall replacements? I have no use for it. I have yet to see what they sent but my recalled machine was a Dreamstation AVAPS. I have been happily on a ResMed AirCurve 10 ST-A for almost two years now. Wondering if I should sell it or donate it? It's not standard issue so don't know what market/need is. Also don't know how to advertise it -- will I know if it's been refurbished or whether it's new? thanks all hope you are all well.

If refurbished, it will have a sticker on the bottom of the machine.

I guess you could try selling it on places like eBay or Marketplace. Remember there is no buying, selling, etc. of prescription required items here on ApneaBoard.

Also, consider keeping it as a back-up machine.

Check with Supplier #2 as they purchase such devices. (The supplier list is accessed in the above black menu bar. On the supplier's website -- select the "sell your cpap" link next to the search function. Selling a device that requires a prescription on eBay may cause legal issues.

Recalled System One Purchased in 2015.
Purchased AirSense 10 (out of pocket) in 2020.
Received recertified DS1 a few months ago.

Switched to the DS1 a week ago and like it much better than the ResMed unit. I actually have only used Phillips units until this recall.

@impalanar

Specifically, what do you like about the Phillips over the ResMed?

Subjectively:
Feel like I don't wake up as much at night.
Feel more refreshed.
Felt like the ResMed always wanted to operate at max pressure setting.

Objectively:
Uses less water. I could never get the ResMed humidity level right. Either woke up with my nose on fire or drowning, there was no in between.

I was having a lot of leaks at the nose I fixed at the same time I switched machines, so that is probably part of it.

Because I am a dork, I plan to switch back to the ResMed for a week in the future just to see if my opinion holds.

I started out with a DreamStation 1 in early 2020. Along came the recall and I got a DreamStation 2 as a replacement which I presently use. Somewhere in that timeline I figured it would be a good idea to have a spare and/or travel CPAP, so I purchased a low hours Resmed AS10 Auto out of pocket. I used the AS10 for a couple weeks to ensure it was functioning properly and to get an idea how it worked. I put the settings to be the same as what I had on the DreamStations, but did try tweaking the pressure a bit on a couple nights. I found the AS10 more aggressive in the pressure it was pushing and so much so it was causing my full face mask to blow out frequently at night which caused me to awaken. On my DreamStations the 'Pressure Set' at 95% usually was consistently about 9. For the AS10 it ran about 12.5 to 14.8. Both the DreamStations and the AS10 yielded AHI's of one or less, but the DreamStation disrupted the nights sleep less.
I probably should get the AS10 out and use it for a week or so again to exercise the blower, air it out from being stored and see how it performs again.
