what machine for centrals
What machine is the best for centrals and is there a take-home test for this machine and where can I buy one?

RE: what machine for centrals
The best machine for central apnea is the Resmed Aircurve 10 ASV. In the absence of a prescription, you should look on DotMed for that model and find the best deal. If you have a prescription, then you can use Supplier #2 for a new or used machine. Your past results with moderate CSR and CSA events suggests you might benefit from ASV. Do you have any support on this from your doctor?

RE: what machine for centrals
Yes, my doctor wants me to have another sleep test 5th one. He said I am getting too many centrals. I told him I am to nervous about covid to sleep at any clinic right now. He gave me 2 months to try and get my central down and if I don't I have to go to a new machine after another sleep test.
Am I being too careful by not trusting a clinic for my test with covid still going strong?

RE: what machine for centrals
Yes. You still need to live your life. Facilities like this take professional care to prevent the possibility of viral spread. Current versions of the Covid virus seem less harmful, and while very communicable, you will not be in close proximity to anyone but your tech who will probably be masked when putting on leads and in your room. What is the point of living in this kind of fear? I am certainly in a high risk group as a senior with comorbidities but I'm not altering my life. I have travelled, flown, shopped, socialized and gone about living my life. Your fear seems to be dysfunctional and is keeping you from doing important things. Your option seems to be to commit to the test or buy an ASV on your own dime. I think your doctor would give you a prescription, it just would not be honored by insurance without a clinical test demonstrating efficacy. ASV is really simple. The default settings work for most people, and after seeing a night with default settings, we can usually fine-tune and dial you right in. The machine is totally automatic.

RE: what machine for centrals
I was having clusters of centrals - some nights more... some less - I tried a cervical collar and the centrals disappeared - maybe 1 or 2 every odd night - Seems that my chin was dropping. Hope that this helps.

Hi, jerry1067 You could also look into the possibility of a home test.

I did try a collar but still got the centrals. Dr seems to think it is the meds I am on that are causing the central

RE: what machine for centrals
I have two cousins who died from the virus and this is very concerning for me.

RE: what machine for centrals
It is very likely that your cousins got a large viral load, as it is called, during their contact with the virus. They got fatally ill due to THEIR inability to deal with what the virus did to their bodies. (Were they vaccinated, and in good health?) If you do get exposed in the lab, it will be a very tiny dose that will allow your body to mount a suitable defence. As stated above, very low risk in the lab, but mounting risk each night you go untreated for apnea.
