The DreamStation Foam Removal Thread
RE: The DreamStation Foam Removal Thread
I am not aware of foam used in the DreamStation 2 to mitigate unwanted sound from within the unit.

That said, there was/is a supplier of DreamStation insulation tanks w/o sound abatement foam. There is no need to modify a tank to remove foam.

You should first check your specific model on the recall list to see if it is one of those affected by the foam issue. At this point, you can register your affected cpap and Phillips will send you a new one under the terms of the recall. You can then return the affected model to Phillips under the terms of the recall.

FWIW, I don't like the replacement model as much as the previous model, it will only work with the water tank attacked making it overall larger.

However, if you are keeping an older model as a backup, then the procedure should work fine.

I have given up on Phillips and am now using a Resmed Airsense 10.

I can't find anyone selling the tanks anymore

Seems kind of bizarre to me to run the air through the foam.. It's known foam is toxic.. I sleep on latex because I don't like the fumes from regular foam, yet now I'm supposed to breath through a machine that runs through foam???

According to this the levels are above what is allowable for formaldehyde when looked at by independent experts. that is for the new foam..

I asked my sleep therapy clinic to take the machine back for another, but they would not even consider it. Really shocking this company is still selling machines.

You can reduce potential issues by following the thread from the beginning where I site a link at YouTube. There you will find, hopefully, a empty-tank supplier still in business where there is no need for foam removal from your current tank.

If your current PAP is over five year old, you should be able to get a new one. I am currently using my old unit but may elect to get a new one. My wife got a DreamStation 2 that Philips replaced but I don't like that water tank fill design. The DreamStation is a simple fill design. Plus, the Philips' data is a pain in the a$$ to parse. So, while Philips would not replace my ASV unit because they are extremely $$$, I'm not really disapointed.

So, I will likely purchase the ResMed AirSense 10 for its water tank design. It is not as simple as my current PAP but it will have to do.

BTW. Law businesses are offering via small action law suits a small payout. But most if not all are worthless. Get a hard a$$ lawfirm and litigate a settlement. Meanwhile, ask around this forum for pros/cons of the various units that would be appropriate for you.
