Not when CPAP therapy is used to treat obstructive sleep apnea. As soon as you stop therapy the apneas return.

RE: wondering if I really still need my. CPAP machine
Gil was wondering if he still needs his machine. Along the same lines, I assumed I needed my machine but wondered how badly I needed it, like maybe I could get by with just a positional device. I used one and didn't use my machine but did use my overnight oximeter. My oxygen desaturation index level was 27.1. I don't think there's established, ODI level but it seems to correlate (perhaps coincidently) with the AH Index: less than five, good, etc. My DIY "sleep study" was just one night and n =1, but based on that, I won't be trading in my machine for a positional device.
I also did what others suggested regarding turning the pressure way down. I don't want to hijack Gil's post so I'll do my own post with the results and will be looking forward to comments on Flow Rate, etc.
