3rd Party Filters (Off Label)

My medical supplier gives me these 3rd party off brand CPAP filters (replaced monthly) for my ResMed AirSense 10. I asked if she had name brand filters, and she said no. However, it is practically free since she bills my insurance. Should I go out of my way to order official ResMed filters?  Are the off brand filters acceptable or dangerous?

I have used both OEM and copycat filters. I can't say whether there was any difference in performance, but both seemed to trap approx the same amount of particulates.

I did once receive a pack from a non-brand maker that were too coarse to work. Of course I discarded them and ordered others of the correct spec.

Maybe do a side by side comparison of original ResMed filters to the off label brand? If they appear to be similar, then go with the off label. 

The filters are primarily designed to keep larger items and particles out of the machine. They're not very hi-tech.

I would recommend you press your DME.

My DME told me they didn't have the name brand filters. I told them I have experienced the off-brand filters causing extraneous noise, which disturbs my sleep, so I only want the name brand filters. Suddenly they said they do have them, and could provide them.
