ASV | Low PS | Sleep phase

ASV | Low PS | Sleep phase
Hello everybody,

I am on ASV machine (Resmed AirCurve 10 CS PaceWave) with ASVAuto mode.
I attached a printscreen of Oscar and I splitted the result for 3 sections (S1, S2, S3).

Why use the machine low PS in S2?
I mean, what kind of sleep phase was I in S2?
Or did I sleep in a different position in S2 compared to S1 and S3?

Thank you in advance.

I don't know what was going on in S2, but it sure would be nice if everything looked like that. Why are you using such low pressures? EPAP min 5, EPAP max 6, PS 0-5. Are you treating central or mixed apnea, or treating something else? Have you tried a broader range of PS, or perhaps, PS 3 to 8?

RE: ASV | Low PS | Sleep phase
Hello,

thanks for your response.

I am new on ASV machine (only for a week).

I had OSA (AHI is 33, 66%H + 34%A, avg O2 95%, min O2 88%) but the standard APAP caused a lot of CA and CSR. I could not sleep more than only 1-2 hours with APAP. The low pressure (approx. 5-7) treats my OSA.

No treating other things with ASV.

The original values were by my doctor:
 - Epap min: 5
 - Epap max: 7
 - PS min: 0
 - PS max: 7

The higher pressure is inflates my stomatch and I will wake up and going to burp. I tried to decrease PS max (and Epap range) but the problem is the same and I dont know how I will solve this problem.
I use full face mask because my mouth is opening with nasal mask. I tried to use chin strap but the air is leaving trought my mouth.
I always sleep on side.

Sorry for my english.

RE: ASV | Low PS | Sleep phase
Your chart is only 1:45 minutes long, and you need to get settled in and make the most of your ASV. To keep your pressure at a minimum, let's try these setitngs:
Mode: ASV auto
EPAP min 5.0
EPAP max 6.0
PS min 2.0
PS max 7.0
Ramp: off

This keeps pressure in the same range as you previously had, but features 2-cm pressure support on each breath. Try to be settled down and breathing with a normal realaxed respiration rate and volume before putting the mask on. This machine will target whatever it detects, so being relaxed and settled will make your therapy a lot easier.
