RE: ASV Settings
This is a Philips Respironics algorithm, and a pressure pulse is in response to reduced or cessation in breathing. The pulse itself should not be a problem, but the underlying cause clearly is. You might want to look at the PP chart against flow rate and see what is going on. Since we don't know what machine this is, or what algorithm is in use the event chart does not really tell us much.

RE: ASV Settings
I took polysomnography tests 6 times. CSR was not detected in all of them. However, all CPAPs I use show a high rate of CSR. What could be the reason for this? Doctors cannot give an answer.
RE: ASV Settings
I had a home sleep study (Watchpat), polysomnography, and have used my s9 adapt asv (OSCAR) and I have this Trilogy Evo ventilator also. Only one (Watchpat) showed that I had CSR. Obviously to me, it is the interpretation of the results that are different. I have seen many false positive CSR diagnosis here in the OSCAR charts posted my members. One key is that most of the time a person will have either heart failure or a significant heart problem (or possibly severe lung problem) when they have true CSR. I am going to take my results of my poly as the most accurate since they use the most sophisticated testing equipment. 3/4 of my sleep apnea modalities (Watchpat, poly, s9 adap asv, and Evo) show no CSR also. 75%. Just my 2 cents. A Cardiologist would most likely be the best agent at interpreting CSR IMO. Pulmonologist right up there also. I have seen and worked with both.

RE: ASV Settings
Some to most CPAP machines flag variable breathing as CSR, while it may not be. Unless you're definitely diagnosed as having heart conditions, it's likely false flags.

I have been using respironics st for years. I always get change-stokes. I do not have heart failure. Change-stokes are not detected in polysomnography. How can I trust this device?

RE: ASV Settings
I am sorry to hear that your Dr.'s cannot help you much regarding this issue (and you had to post here to try to get some answers). After an internet search I found this:
I have seen a few sleep studies posted here that report CSR respirations on them. Dave made a good point also that machines can misinterpret variable breathing as Cheyne - Stokes respiration. My suggestion would be to do as much research on it as you can to help you make your own decision about CSR. A really big point that helped me was that CSR is associated with heart failure the majority of times. Since I am not in heart failure, I concluded that I don't have CSR. A great place to start personal research would be to type, "cheyne stokes" into the search at the top of the page. Just click on the search tab and type it into the space provided. It will link you to all the threads here that deal with CSR. Also, at the bottom of your thread (you may not have noticed it) are a few threads that are related to yours that you can quickly look at. I hope this helps and I hope you can find peace of mind in regard to this issue.

RE: ASV Settings
Hello Jay,
This is the first time i have heard of WatchPat. This device is not sold in my country(Turkey). Does this device show the snore, the OA and the AHI? or only show the CSR? |
