AirSense 10 howling/motor sound

AirSense 10 howling/motor sound
My AirSense 10 has developed a "howling" sound that gets louder with deeper breaths, accompanied by mask seal leaks averaging around 75.

Other than anxiety over these issues, function seems normal.

The machine was acquired in 8/2016. It should be noted that it has been subject to a couple of drops and exposure to dusty air as a result of my Hurricane Harvey evacuation and re-construction dust.

Well if you got it new you should have one month left on the two year warranty. I'd take it back to where you bought it right away!

You still there?   You're supposed to be getting the machine back to the seller/manufacturer. Grin

RE: AirSense 10 howling/motor sound
Shortly after its second "birthday", my Airsense 10 developed an annoying whirring noise on inhale.  I took it to the DME who sent it off to the repair facility. They came back with a repair bill that the DME declared "not economically feasible to repair"...a new machine was the result.  I asked for return of the original machine figuring it might come in handy as a usable, albeit noisy, spare or for parts.

Or a really high precision air source for suspending ping pong balls on a column of air :-)

Hello, did you ever find a resolution for the howling - mine is doing the same and it's impossible to use - going back to the store today, but doubt they'll be helpful. Thanks.

RE: AirSense 10 howling/motor sound
The howling noise from the blower is a "failed pneumatic block" and is warranted by the manufacturer up to 3-years after first use. The expense of replacing the pneumatic block is high enough that replacement is usually considered rather than repair. You can replace this machine with a used unit for less than the cost of repair, however it may be worthwhile getting a repair estimate from Supplier #27 if you cannot get a warranty replacement.

wow, Thank you for this, I've been in touch with the supplier and bringing the unit in this morning, they acted as if they are aware of the issue before, so I'm looking forward to a positive resolution, but your reply has forewarned/forearmed me.  Thank you very much.

The pneumatic block is a very common failure (unfortunately). Resmed is well aware of it, and has been very accommodating with warranty coverage.
