Airtouch/Airfit F20 Elbow Failing
Hello,
Does anyone else that uses this mask have issues with the quietair elbow failing? I have had two fail in a matter of weeks. The first one was the one that came with the mask so I know it is authentic. The second one came from Amazon, so it may be fake but it failed in the same way. Out of nowhere, it will just start hissing loudly and by looking at it everything seems fine so I don't know if there is a way to fix it or if it is just trash at that point. I thought it was just the noise that was the issue, but if I do a mask fit test on the machine when this is occurring, it will detect a large leak.
Is there a different type of elbow that is compatible with this mask that I could try? I love this mask so I want to get this figured out.

Mine does the same thing if drool gets around the spot where it connects to the mask

Does it start working again when it dries out or is it just junk at that point?

Yeah mine starts working normally after it's fully dry. I usually unclip from mask and give both a good wipe down with an unscented baby wipe, paying special attention to where the mask hole is and the top of elbow that clips into mask. There may be some drool inside the cottony material that goes around the elbow (inside the round plastic cover thingy), so you may want to wash the whole elbow so the drool doesn't stay in there. Sorry it's hard to explain lol

My F20 elbow failed when one of the flaps inside broke off--that just let the air rush out. Luckily I had a back up to use. Good idea to always have one on hand.

The elbow clips to the mask with two clips -- one on each side. If you accidentally engage only one clip, the mask will be very noisy as there is a great leakage with only one clip engaged.

This is exactly why I came here. These last few elbows have been horrible. I thought I had bought fakes. Then I recently got a new machine and the new set up came with mask, the original equipment and the elbow started hissing within the first week. UGGGG It wakes me up more than the apnea. If I don't keep pressure directly on the elbow it is loud or is blowing air in my eyes like the originals from 6 yrs ago.
Went looking to buy new ones and I cant find any original parts. So tired of bad or fake parts. Looking for a good source. Any advice?? Sorry to jump mid post but I would appreciate if you guys have any more advice.

I’ve just been ordering a few at a time and once they start doing the hissing a toss them out and put a new one on. There’s No way I could sleep with that sound.
[DME Link Removed] Supplier #10 is the only place I found that sells the elbow by itself and it says they are sold out right now, unfortunately. I still don’t know if they just go bad on their own or if I’m doing something to cause it. I’ve had a couple last a few months and others only a week.

I have been using the F20 for maybe 4 years and I have never had an elbow problem. It is my all-time favoriten after using quite a few masks. A couple of people mentioned it may be mouth secretions collecting in the elbow. What works for me may not work for anyone else, but I tape my mouth even though I am using a full face mask. It keeps me from leaking air from my mouth, but it also stops oral secretions. For me, that helps the memory foam mask last longer. It may also help those of you who are experiencing elbow problems due to secretions. I use Cover-Roll tape. The mask helps hold the tape in place, and I can reuse it 3-4 days if I want. Good luck.

I've been using an F20 system for 5 years now, I've had one elbow break on me (the inside part where it moves on this little plastic joint.. I have at least two of everything though now so I will just replace it if it happens again
