Are these centrals likely to be treatment induced?

Are these centrals likely to be treatment induced?

Hi there,

Just wondering if these are likely treatment induced centrals or if I should consider a different machine?

Cheers,

You can't look at the and make that determination. You need to see your sleep study and see if you have many Ca and if you did s few might be treatment emergent. Now I see something we can know by looking at your chart. You are having some positional apnea. You can see positional apnea when they are clustered H and/or Oa events. And you have several.

Getting rid of as many as you can will lower your AHI. Positional apnea can NOT be controlled by pressure changes. You have to find out what position you are getting into and cutting off your own airway. Have you changed your sleep position? Sleeping on your back? Using more (or new) pillows? These things can cause positional apnea by chin dropping to your sternum and cutting your airway. Think of it of a kinked hose – nothing can get through – you have to unkink the hose…
IF you can’t make a simple change like changing to a flatter pillow helps then you will need a collar. I have a link to collars in my signature at the bottom of the page. It shows people who are not wearing a collar and the SAME person wearing a collar. There is a huge difference between the two.

Hi Stacey,

Thanks for that response!

I sleep on my side predominantly, likely changing partly onto my back if I'm switching sides. Sleep test did show some centrals but was very minimal when sleeping on my side.

Everything else with my sleep is the same, pretty flat memory foam pillow, still sleep on my side. I might try out a collar and see how it goes. I'm trialling this machine for another week or two before deciding if I want to purchase one so will try get a collar quick to test it out.

Thanks!
