Australians - importing from USA - experiences?
#21
RE: Australians - importing from USA - experiences?
I purchased a USA Resmed machine with zero hours on it from Gumtree. After doing two thousand hours (11 months) the motor needs replacing. Apparently Resmed are now the only people doing repairs in Australia so they want $600 to replace the motor. I can get a new motor installed in the US for $165 (US) but still trying to find reasonably priced shipping. FedEx want $159 to ship to california. So I think buying USA machines is a false economy, if anything goes wrong with it.
Also US Resmed machines have a us Modem in them so myAir doesn’t work in Australia, which may affect some people.

I may be the only Aussie on the forum who has used them so my one experience doesn't necessarily count as an overall positive one.

Isn't your Resmed unit under factory warranty (2 years?) in the US? Other lower cost shipping options to ship the unit back to/from the US?

So, you've heard of the legendary Tim Tams in Georgia. This might be a business opportunity for some Aussie entrepreneur.

No-one has posted here since April last year. Would be keen to hear of any newer experiences.

As for the RESMed Airsense 10 Autoset USA modem, is the MyAir software worth bothering with here in Australia or is Sleepyhead the much better alternative?

Without question, Sleepyhead is much better and has more detail by far.

For the last few years Supplier 10 has had an Australia day special on machines. Being this close it might be worth waiting until then.

Sent them an email, but it's just now bounced back as undeliverable (via GMail) Thinking-about .

Don't think it wise for me to risk a purchase from them if email is problematic.

Supplier #10 are a well-known outfit. I know a couple of people who've bought from them with no problems. The email issue may be a temporary glitch.
