CPAP Alternatives - Oral Appliance for Sleep Apnea, Surgery?

Has anyone tried an oral appliance for sleep apnea? I may not be able to tolerate the CPAP due to inner ear problems.

I am willing to try anything...even surgery or the implant.

Looking for some hope and some air - Would love to hear some feedback.

Just trying a SPORT appliance in conjunction with my new CPAP and it seems to help with the night breathing, it lowered the large leak problem. I would say buy one from a sport store chain, 'cause its cheaper! ($15) and see if it helps. Do yourself a favor, get a sleep test done and deal with a clinitician due to the ears

I was going to respond in your previous thread, when I see you started another.

So my questions to you are: Have you had a sleep test? Do you even know for sure if you have sleep apnea?

What is this therapy you mentioned in your other thread? Is that to help you ear problems?

I would suggest you see a good ENT specialist and see what they can do for your ears, because CPAP therapy will aggravate your ears.

In the meantime, try to sleep inclined or in a recliner.

Yes, I have sleep apnea (confirmed) - but it may only be mild to moderate. Regardless, it is messing up my sleep and I am not functioning well.

I have had 2 sleep tests - the first one was 7 years ago and I was told that I had mild sleep apnea. I didn't follow up on it and I should have.

I woke up choking in June and I was sent for a second test. I completed my second sleep study a couple nights ago and I won't get the results until November 23.

My sleep problems started around the same time that my thyroid problems started.

The ear issues are an injury from carrying heavy bags earlier this year. I am going to call the Dr. tomorrow and ask him to refer me to an ENT. The Dr. didn't seem to take it seriously when I saw him.

I think it would have to... being in the USA it is not an option. Not sure I would be able to use it if it was given a high gag reflex
