RE: Getting ready to call it quits
lightwolf1 I appreciate your time to write that. I can openly say that the answers to those first two questions are I do not really know. The VA has already offered surgery and I turned that down flat. My motivation for seeking out help with adjusting is entirely about the curious desire to experience this mythical lifechanging condition that so many others have told me about. Is the view forth climbing the mountain (for me?)
CyberSpiff Thanks. I am trying to start getting some data to allow for the nice people her to help me. I did 37 minutes last night that seemed like hours to me and the residual anxiety of the attempt has me in a place that not sleeping at all would be preferable right now. Awake me is one hundred percent fine with the machine and mask and pressure. Asleep me is terrified of the sensation. The more that I focus on thigs typing these replies I think I may have just now connected a couple of dots. While swimming I have drowned to blackout twice before when I was much younger and I never connected that to this before. hmm stacyburke I still have to research on how to do that. The menu on the machine is locked down to basically on and off. I was told it was only adjustable remotely. The clinician hinted at some youtube videos but told me that he has to reset it every time that I come in.

RE: Getting ready to call it quits
Your most recent chart shows you have ramp on and your machine never leaves a pressure of 4.0 cm until 1/2-hour into your 37 minute trial. Please turn off ramp. Set your minimum pressure to 7.0 and EPR full time at 3. Let's make the maximum pressure 12.0 for now. This should give you a shot at some therapy pressure before you quit. The entire chart showed a large leak so we need to get you into a more appropriate mask for your sleep position.

Thanks. I'll work on figuring out how to hack into this thing. The menus are locked down.

RE: Getting ready to call it quits
Get a hold of your sleep study first. You don't even know what it says. You could have Central Apnea for you know.

RE: Getting ready to call it quits
Todays post has a screenshot of some data with values in it. I managed to obtain something resembling sleep but I had to cradle my head in a wad of sweatshirt. This kept me mostly upright. For the bulk of this I was hypnogogic and semi aware.
I did lower the pressures as asked to 7-12 and EPR to 3. I am looking for my copy of the sleep study.

RE: Getting ready to call it quits
Just my opinion on a successful request for you sleep study. First tell the doctor polite yet firm, I would like my full detailed diagnostic sleep study. If the doctor balks, you'll mention HIPAA law and that you're entitled to your copy of your study.
I would say that your big problem right now is fairly uncontrolled leaks all session. The settings within OSCAR state a full face mask. Are you knowingly a habitual mouth breather? If not, another mask like a nasal pillow like ResMed P10 or others might work better in your face plant sleep position.
