ResMed A10 Run Hours for Motor Life Exceeded
Does anyone know the number of run hours needed to trigger the "Run Hours for Motor Life Exceeded" warning to appear on the ResMed A10 machines?

A quick search says the following, I am not certain to the accuracy.

"The number of hours at which this message appears depends on the model of the machine:
AirSense 10: Displays the message at 21,900 hours
S9: Displays the message at 24,000 hours"

Thanks. That sounds familiar. At 8 hours a night that works out to 7.5 years.

Hmmm... I wasn't aware that the S9 displayed this message.

On the 10 AutoSet, is there information that displays the current amount of hours used? I've scrolled thru the various menus but don't recall seeing total use in hours.  Dont-know

Update: I went back into the menus on my machine and found what I was looking for. It has 6850 total hours on it.

Look in the Clinician menu. I believe it is toward the bottom.

The last item in the Clinician's Menu is "About". There you will find the number of "Run Hrs". When you reset the machine this number does not get reset, so it's the number you want to look at if you're buying or assessing a used machine.

Does this mean when the run hours are exceeded that you are expected to get a new machine? I was not aware of that measurement and I guess I don't understand the implications.

I assumed you could just change the oil, put on new wiper blades, and keep running. (Just kidding -- but I'm serious about not understanding the implications.)

Yes, this implies the machine is nearing end of expected life usage. You can choose 3 actions I know of:

1) get your prescribing physical to order a new replacement machine which does not, in the US anyway, again not require more sleep studies or Titration.

2) I forget which right now, but within Supplier list is repair shop which will swap blower motors and reset run hours.

3) buy a replacement.

That's evidently the purpose of the warning. I ignored mine and kept using it as my primary machine for awhile (about a year, I guess). Then I got a new one through my insurance, and kept it as a back up machine. I took it with me on vacation and that's when it failed. Live and learn!
