It occurred to me that the only way to set a PIN is through the faceplate of the machine, not through the modem. Has anybody checked that? It may be a nonissue then. If you only bring/provide your SD card, how are they going to set a lockout PIN? If you get a new machine with a PIN, just do a factory reset right away and set the settings whatever way you want (no loss of data, in other words).

Ok, I see that you mentioned it already.

Hey, I had not one but TWO RTs ask me what a manometer was. So it could get worse!

I"m glad I don't have to worry about this. My DME took my modem back after my insurance purchased my machine.

Using ResScan it's possible to put new prescription settings on the card for transfer back into the (Resmed) machine. I don't know if the same thing is possible with Philips machines, but I'd be surprised if it's not.

Tell ya what, I'll go without coffee for a day and give that DME a visit.

Smile

Sorry boss; I wouldn't mention your name, but you'd need a new DME as that place would have to close if nice guy Dave visits in that scenario. And I thought mine was mediocre...WOW!

In all seriousness, that is an atrocious joke of a medical facility! The Apria that I go to is awesome compared to that.

Oh, and just for some giggles, I sent a product info request to Respironics asking about some CPAP firmware update information that is expected to have a PIN feature included. I asked how that feature can benefit the patient. Stay tuned! Bigwink

The screwy thing is, after she told me all that nonsense, and after we talked about me changing pressures (and her saying it's illegal), I told her that I'm the admin of Apnea Board, the most active Sleep Apnea forum on the web-- so I know that's not correct.  But then she simply doubled-down and said "Well, you can't believe everything you read on the Internet.  Believe me, it's illegal and you can get in a lot of trouble by changing pressures yourself."

I thought to myself, "yeah, yeah, whatever lady..." Annoyed-and-disappointed     I again told myself  "Just get the machine and walk out.. get the machine and walk out... get the machine and walk out..."

She walked out of the room to get some paperwork... I used the opportunity to quickly go into the provider mode and check the machine's run hours.  Yep, 0 hours for patient, 0 hours for machine.  At least I wasn't getting a used machine.  Put it back in patient mode as she walked back into the room.

Wasn't even worth going any further trying to prove the facts to someone who clearly has their ears shut and their brain operating in power-saving mode.   Loco

TOO TOO kind of you SuperSleeper. Crediting her with a brain and all that. Bigger credit you left with your sanity intact.

Coffee

PS kudos in verifying the zero hour machine. Glad it went as well as it did. I've been told for many years, that you cannot fix stupid, but Duct tape silences it for a little while.
