CPAP to apap settings
Hi all!
I am looking at changing from a CPAP to APAP. The main reason being is the high amount of air I swallow which causes extreme flatulence.
My CPAP setting is 13.5 so I am wondering what sort of range should I set an Apap on?
Has anyone else had issues with flatulence and has APAP helped?
RE: CPAP to apap settings
We could much better help you if you download and use Oscar, a very good free apnea reporting program, and then post a chart or two.
Machine: ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto
Mask: Bleep DreamPort Sleep Solution
RE: CPAP to apap settings
As Deb said, having some OSCAR charts would help. How did you end up with those settings?
For now, go to a baseline setting that we can work from.
Mode APAP
Min pressure 8
Max pressure 15
EPR 2 full-time
No ramp
Give that a go for a few nights and post some charts. If the min feels too low, you can start anywhere up to 11.
RE: CPAP to apap settings
hey hatbox,
yes, it's quite common to experience aerophagia and flatulence with PAP therapy, and there can be a variety of potential causes for this. The literature does show that APAP allows for slightly lower average pressures, so this could certainly be a solution for you. As the two others mentioned, you'll get to the bottom of this a lot sooner if you download OSCAR and review your nightly data. There are many members on this forum that will interpret it for you for free, and use it to help guide therapy recommendations.
