Canadian Provider Who Will Send ResMed 10 for Blower Replacement
#1
Question
Canadian Provider Who Will Send ResMed 10 for Blower Replacement
I have an end of life ResMed 10 Elite at end of life for the motor.

I asked my current equipment company who said they won't send it for repair to ResMed without explanation. They did this years ago for an S9 (which ResMed lost and then the local distributor had to give me a new one for no more cost).

It's preferable to find a Canadian one (Toronto area) rather than deal with the customs issues of mailing it directly to ResMed or a repair shop in the USA . They would have a procedure to deal with that through ResMed.

I am able to replace it myself but I'd like the whole repair routine including resetting the warning.

You should just tell them your current unit is making noise periodically , the pressure fluctuates and it has x amount of hours and what your recommendation on how to rectify the problem.

I'm eligible for a new machine once the sleep clinic at the hospital signs off so they refuse to send it ro ResMed for repair or renewal.

Well , call sleep clinic at the hospital then, if your due a new machine you should get one. I see there point, they don’t want to repair your old one and give you a new one also. If you can get a blower motor , repair your old one for a back up and use your new one nightly.

The RT I used to see is now the GM of the parent company of all the CPAP stores and I asked him why they'd refuse since we all know ResMed does renew them, and they repaired my S9 in the past. And the S10 is still in stock so it's not obsolete.

Of course I am going through the motions with the hospital to get a new one under the 5 year (it's been 9 now) replacement program, but for the sake of the one moving part in the machine it is wasteful to throw it out when the motor dies.

And if I hit a brick wall I can and will swap the motor. I'd rather do that and donate a machine than add to e-waste.
