So, you sent the machine to ResMed and then asked them what is wrong with it? By phone or email? Someone at ResMed told you faulty PCB? Ralph Nader would be proud of you, if true.

Also, it stunk up your house and posited health concerns, as you say, why did you run the machine for 100 hours? Did you call the fire department and make a report?

As for bad feelings, save that for the casino. Facts are facts, and the facts you have presented make little sense.

I have no idea about the mechanics of the machine. All I know is I sent the machine to Resmed in Canada and when I asked what was wrong with it, Resmed said it was a “faulty PCB.” PCB stands for Printed Circuit Board.

Why didn’t I want a replacement? After stinking up my house and fearing health concerns, I don’t want another Resmed 11. I now have a bad feeling about these machines, right or wrong. Maybe another one would be perfectly fine, but I’m not going to take the chance. Have you ever heard of people just having enough?

I was a newspaper reporter for nearly 30 years.

I received prepaid postage from my Cpap supplier to send the machine to resmed for possible repair and investigation. The report back to the CPAP supplier from Resmed was that the machine was irreparable. When I enquired further, the supplier contacted the Resmed. I got an email from the supplier with a copy-pasted note from Resmed noting the “faulty PCB”

I understood you are supposed to run a new machine to air in out. I was really trying my best and decided to run it inside and outside (hoping fresh air might help). Maybe it was wishful thinking. Probably should have given up after 30 hours.

Anyway I was just commenting on this site to give insight to others. I don’t need a debate. If you don’t believe me, feel free to believe whatever you wish.

Thanks for your reply.

I applaud your 30 years of reporting. It speaks to your character and ability.

Sorry, did not mean to upset or debate you. Some have pointed to issues with the foam inside, and I may open my unit up and remove.

Whoever you are, I sincerely wish you the best.

I've had my machine for just over a year.  The smell if pretty obvious. It smells like glue or some chemical.  I have an appt with my DME this week and I'm hopeful they will be able to rectify with new machine etc but not getting my hopes up.  Also, this machine gets a terrible plastic smell if the water chamber runs dry in the night.  Its a much worse smell than the one coming from the machine, or maybe it is coming from the tank even wet?

Please report this issue to your DME suppliers. I talked to mine today and they do not have any records of this.

Add me to the list. Took a long time to get my Aircurve 11. Got it home, set it up to try (using old mask and hose). Very strong anticeptic like smell. Stopped after a few minutes, found my nose and throat were irritated. Resolved after a few hours of coughing and gaging. Smell not as bad that night, but woke up hoarse in the morning.

4 day in, its getting better, changed filter, but smell is definitely coming from inside motor unit.

Hope we all don't die like the poor Phillips users
