Yes, replace the filter too.
Clean the humidifier tank. Use any dish detergent and rinse well. I use Dawn.

Did you order the Clinicians Manual?

When you're ready, set the minimum pressure to 7cm, set maximum pressure to 15cm.
Set EPR to 3.

These are just basic starting pressures. I suspect we will make adjustments based on what it shows.

Since you're new to this, use the ramp feature, set at 4.

Don't forget, the SD card must be in the Cpap while sleeping, or there will be no detailed data.

Okay.  15 good to avoid Central apneas?

7 cm overkill instead starting at 4?

We won't know until we try. If you're worried, then let's try 12max instead of 15, but you have to start somewhere.

Okay I ordered manual. Here’s some views on sleep without cpap.
Correction. I thought you start 4 cm and slowly move up in weeks no?

RE: Dread's - Cpap Therapy Thread
We have found that by starting with a pressure of 4 can cause you to feel that you are not getting enough air.  So we like to see a slightly higher minimum pressure.

I don't want you to feel overwhelmed, so let's start over.

Set minimum pressure to 6cm
Set maximum pressure to 12cm
Set Ramp to start at 4cm.
Set EPR to 2. (This will help you breathe out against the pressure easily.)

Something else to try:

Use your machine before actually going to bed for an hour or so, sitting up reading or watching TV.  This will help you get used to the feel of it.

Pay extra attention to mask fit.  We don't want to start out with a lot of leaks.

RE: Dread's - Cpap Therapy Thread
Okay thank you. My heart so far and lungs seemed fine so could bad pressure risk more harm? I assume it’s better then no cpap at all. Just a little nervous lol.

Lastly does my report prove any help for tiltration process?

RE: Dread's - Cpap Therapy Thread
The minimum pressures a CPAP will produce is 4-cm. The reason we are asking you to start at 7.0 is that with EPR 3 the resulting pressures are 7.0/4.0 (inhale/exhale). This pressure differential is what treats flow limitation and hypopnea and improves ventilation. I your minimum pressure is 4.0 the EPR function is lost and you will get 4/4 pressure. That is very low pressure and airflow. We will help you optimize the pressure, but as Opal said, we have to start somewhere and this is what we have found to work the best for most new CPAP users.
