Correction: Make that 20K ohm.

Option B looks like a non-inverting buck/boost converter that's designed to be fed from a lithium battery pack.  As you said, it probably provides a stable 12V as the battery discharges. It probably has the same 100k resistor on the center pin.

Correction:  Make that 24.3K ohm 1%.  I bought one of these and took it apart.

Some testing with a power supply and a decade box shows the DS needs to see between 18.9K to 26.2K to power up and run without an error screen. The blower will not start with the wrong resistance.

I tried to power my DreamStation Auto with a 22k Ohm resistor, but it's not working, I get the error screen all the time.
I have tried with 10k Ohm, 22k Ohm and 100k Ohm, without success.
Does anyone knows the exact value of the resistor, or if I need anything else then just a resistor?

I tried with 22k Ohm and it didn't work, but I did get it to work with 24k Ohm (2 12k Ohm resistors in serie) 
But After that the screen flicker when i power on the CPAP, I guess I got to long and to thin cables, need to test with some other cables before I use it.

I'm using a 12 Volt battery bank (~40 Ah) that I used to my old CPAP.

I was wondering about getting a dc cord for my Dreamstation and this thread
has answered my questions. But has anyone found a cheep source of that 3
contact plug so I can make my own cable ? Until then if I have a power failure
I can always just hook up my spare cpap.

Re  '3 prong plug' for Dreamstation;

I assume the question is about the Dreamstation plug with 3 wires (it has an
internal small diameter pin).

I used a plug for a portable computer which was exactly the same as the Dreamstation plug.

Someone who does hardware repairs for portable computers is likely to have it.

Does anyone know where the resistor is in the PR DC cable? at the cigar plug end or at the barrel plug end?

My primary PR Syste 560was approaching 11,000 hours when this recall came out and I ordered a new DS2 yesterday.

I will attempt to start the new DS2 using the same plug configuration I used on the SystemOne 60 series (just because - I tend to also try and rescue dead batteries before tossing them (drop on the used battery recycling cart at the auto parts store)).

If, as we expect, it won't work, I may hack off the end of the PR DS 12v dc cord and connect the plug direct to my power supply if the resistor is in the barrel plug end (I suspect it is, as the power cords appear to be standard two-conductor cords. I have NO idea what PR was thinking when they added 11 pounds (5kg) of ferrite chokes to what should have been a lightweight and slender cord. I can't see anything inside requiring that amount of RF suppression unless it is a silly phone modem or bluetooth module. But I have **ZERO** need for data report querying or transmission 99.9% of the time and when I do, I'll use an SD card and hike the like two steps from the CPAP to my laptop. When software gets adapted for the DS2.

The ferrite bead chokes are installed to meet regulatory requirements. Dealing with FCC Part 15 and IEC555 regulations for RFI and EMI is a major project all by itself. Add to that safety such as UL, CSA, TUV, SEV, CE, and other regulatory approvals to sell worldwide, and you will have some interesting designs. If you put a spectrum analyzer on an automotive 12 volt socket or an RV 12 volt system you will see a lot of trash that you need to keep OUT of your device.

I have finally—after eighteen months—received my two replacement Dreamstation 2 Auto-CPAP Advanced machines which replace my older System Ones that were recalled.

I had been happily using a portable Li-ion battery for times when I head to our cabin in the Sierra—where there is no electricity unless we run a generator. In that setup, I just plugged a cable into the 60WHr battery and then directly into the System Ones. 

I now discover that there is no satisfactory cable that I can use to directly connect from the battery to the DS2. In fact, the Dreamstations alert me to the insufficient power source and will not run. However, I realized that I could attach a $16 75W DC power inverter (with a standard 120V socket) to the battery and then plug the DS2's usual power supply transformer into the inverter.

I tested it last night without running any heated water setting and had no problem using the Dreamstation 2 for nine hours. In the morning, the battery appears to have used less than 20% of its capacity so this system can probably run for four or five nights without needing a recharge.

It's less elegant, and probably not entirely efficient, but it will serve me just fine.

Thanks for the description.  I'm out on a trip.  I made a 12V adapter, and I'm almost 100% sure it was working, but it stopped with the check power message.  I'm here looking for hints on what might have gone wrong.  I put a 22K resistor between the +12 and the center pin.  I have the +12V on the inner part of the plug, and the GND on the outer part of the plug.  You seem to indicate the polarity is incorrect.  Was this a typo, or did I mix things up?  (I'm not at home, and didn't bring the AC adapter, so I can't check this myself.)

Hi, I'm trying to figure this out as well to use it in my converted van (seems weird to convert it to 220 and then back to 12v, or to pay 100e for a cable).

I've tried 100k and 20k, no luck.

Please help?
