[Equipment] ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet APAP vs ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet For Her

ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet APAP vs ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet For Her
My provider is recommending one of the two models. When I Google I can't seem to find any difference besides being "for her".

Does anyone know what "for her" acutally do? And what else is the difference?

It has slightly different rampup settings, supposedly more geared for females.

However, I hear that the latest machines (not the for her models) also include this via a menu selectable option. Of course the white color and the flowers decorating the case is sometimes more important than the function for some.

The For Her model has 3 algorithms. Straight cpap, the regular Resmed algorithm and the For Her algorithm which is a little less aggressive. Some people have noticed that the For Her algorithm is very similar to a much older version of Resmed. I use the For Her algorithm most of the time. What it appears to do is begin the pressure a little earlier and decrease pressure slower. I just did another test last week and find that my machine increases the pressure almost 1 cm more on the regular algorithm compared to the For Her (so my 95% is 12 instead of 11). The AHI is the same with either one.

Another advantage is that the case is beige with leaves on it. MUCH easier for me, who has vision problems, than a black appliance. The actual screen is the same. Everything else is the same (tubing - both heated and non-heated, humidifier, filters). The online retailers do carry the side panel in both colors for use when you are not using the humidifier.

Unless you have a real need to have a black machine, I would get the For Her model simply because you may find that you like that algorithm. Maybe you won't. You won't know unless you try.

As far as I can tell, only the machines in black Airsense Autosets in Australia were updated with the For Her algorithm. Nobody in the US has reported having such an update on their machine. Don't know about Canada.

Are you saying that we users with older Airsense Autosets are likely to automatically get the newer software at some point?  New USA black units have both alogorithms.  Mine is the same model, but the firmware / software installed on the machine is SX567 0305 which doesn't have the "For Her comfort setting".  Supposedly those with black units from the last 6 months got SX567 0306 with both algorithms installed.  ResMet told me that I had to take my machine to the DME to see if they might update it.  And from the sound of the customer service at ResMed it was likely that they wouldn't update it....

The latest Autoset machine also have those 3 algorithms, so apart from the external appearance, the machines are the same now.

RE: ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet APAP vs ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet For Her
I have an Australian manufactured  Airsense 10 Auto ( Black) made in early 2016. It has two settings only. Auto and a straight pressure. The standard and soft responses available in the machine are not the same as the "For Her" algorithm. In a "For Her" machine there are three settings modes - straight pressure, Auto and the "For Her" setting. Standard and soft response are available.  Due to an ongoing dispute regarding noise issues Resmed  have agreed to replace my black machine with a 'For Her" machine that I am picking up today. Resmed Sydney are only about 45 mins drive from my house. On advice from my sleep specialist, and with due consideration of my lung issues, the consensus was that the "for Her" machine may benefit me more.  It is my understanding that Resmed loan machines are actually 'For Her" machines in a black case, and in discussions this has as good as been confirmed "off the record". I will post how it all goes after a few nights use.

I'm in the US and got a "regular" ResMed Airsense 10 Autosense towards the end of November of last year.  It has a setting for "smooth" as well as "standard."  So the newer US ones do have it.

I have been to the Resmed factory here in Sydney this afternoon to pick up a new Airsense 10 Auto For Her and I had it confirmed that any standard Airsense 10 Auto (Black) does not have the For Her algorithm programmed into the software.   It is a completely different algorithm and is only on the For Her machines. The standard black ones have two settings only. Auto and a straight pressure. The standard and soft responses are available in the machine. As for the black loan machines they are a different animal again.  Bigwink

RE: ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet APAP vs ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet For Her
Well six nights into my Airsense 10 Auto For Her ownership and it is much quieter than my last Black lemon. Darth Vader has now become "Daria Vader", so the breathing sounds through the humidifier tank are still part and parcel of the machine, however quieter and gentler in the For Her machine. I am using the For Her setting and algorithm, which I find works well for me with my lung issues, and my AHI for the last six night average is .25, slightly better than my long term average of .50 So, at the moment I am a happier CPAPer.  I purchased a five year warranty when I first went onto CPAP in November 2015, and Resmed are under no illusions I will continue to complain loud and long should any issues arise.
