[Equipment] Resmed Airsense 10 A Shutting Off

I'm back.  I started using my new machine last Tuesday night.  Things seemed ok except for tribulations with mask leaks.  Last night the SECOND machine showed a 45 minute gap in function just like the original machine.  I am posting a screen shot of the final night I used my "old" machine,  and last night's SH data.

From last night, there are two bathroom breaks and then the large gap between 2:00-2:45 am. From my untrained eye, there is nothing around the 2:00 time to show a leak or movement that would indicate that I inadvertently turned off the machine myself. I woke up at 2:45 and realized there was no air so I got up, made a note on paper of the time and event, and went back to bed turning the machine on.

It is highly unlikely that I have been given two bogus machines. I have been on therapy 12 days.   The similarities between my first machine and second are that most events are averaging 45 minutes and all after midnight.

I guess we'll go a little deeper in the hole with Alice about the possibility of an electrical culprit. My bedroom is on a single breaker. Would a momentary drop in power cause the Resmed to shut off?

Another possibility is that my husband has sabotaged my room so that I will sleep with him tonight.  What a guy!  Bigwink

Is your surge protector new? If not, consider buying another one.

If you are absolutely sure that you are not turning the machine off, then it’s hard to explain.
It’s unlikely your new machine would have the same defect as the original machine.

I know this sounds extreme, but some here have set up a camera in their room to record what they may be doing while sleeping.   Dont-know

I’ve thought of that too, Opal Rose, and it’s not too extreme. If it helps solve the problem, I will take your advice. Thank you!

How about a less extreme test -- use a long extension cord to pull power from another room. I grabbed a nice retractable unit at Home Depot for $29.

haha thanks for that post srlevine1. Sleeping with the hub upstairs tonight. Guess we’ll see what SH says tomorrow.  He may be sorry.
Can’t believe the Resmed is that sensitive...but if it’s me??

I had that before, thought it was brown outs. I would wake like a shot everytime, about 3 or 4 times a night (I did some commercial diving in my youth and that loss of positive pressure still haunts one) The tape revealed I was hitting the power button like it was the snooze bar. Moved the machine farther away so I couldn't just slap it. The autostart is also on just in case I do reach out and touch it that it starts right back up.

The brown out is possible but somewhat unlikely as it would need to maintain a full loss of 120V input power for at least 2 or 3 seconds to drain the capacitors in the PS and device. A drop in input voltage per US DofE standards require the power to drop below 75VAC before the PS stops maintaining the output voltage and cuts out. At 75VAC my power supply still generates 21VDC vs 24.2VDC at 120VAC. My A10as will still fully function at the 21VDC.

Welcome to Apnea Board, Hihowrya.

FWIW both of the Sleepyhead charts show that this mysterious whatever that causes this shutdown seems to happen after about 6 hours of use.

Curiously, when you swapped machines, did you also swap power supply bricks? Earlier, it was brought up as a possible defect, maybe the power brick is/was overheating.

I'm just throwing this out there to think on and see what might stick.

Thanks to nydiver and sarcasticdave for other hints into this mystery. My night with the hubs was uneventful (well...maybe I shouldn’t put it quite like that). No time outs on the machine. Working on the embarrassing theory that it’s a newbie error. What if I was doing a long press on the start button instead of a short press?

I tried out the “power save” feature today with that theory in mind but wasn’t totally convinced that I wouldn’t have noticed the drop in pressure on the mask.  So going into another night of sleuthing with the hubs. Thanks for staying with me on this. I’m still pretty green.

That electrical stuff zaps right over my head but hubs found it very helpful to know the tolerances of the machine. He again concluded that our home electrical supply was not the culprit.
Dave...we did change out the cord/brick with the old machine so working on the replacent now.
There were no large breaks in therapy last night. AHI @ .9 with the F20 Airtouch behaving.   Case closed. The universe just wanted me to move back where Ive slept over 40+ years.
Good luck Sheepish Haha
