First month follow-up with sleep specialist

First month follow-up with sleep specialist
I had my first follow-up with the sleep specialist yesterday. I've been on CPAP for a month now. She said I am doing great and I don't need to see her again for a year. My average AHI was 3.7. I told her I was a bit agitated because my AHI isn't consistent. I do average 3.something usually, but have been as low as 1.2 and as high as 6.4, and I don't understand the inconsistency. She said I'm just reading more into it, and I should be satisfied with an average of 3.7, because when I had my sleep study, it was 87... I guess that is an improvement, huh? Thinking-about

My two cents....
Although an AHI under 5 is considered treated, it's how we feel that's most important.

The response you received from your sleep doc is typical, but I feel they should be looking at the breakdown of the AHI number, like how many Obstructives, hypopneas, clear airways???

Also, what is your 90% pressure number? I would think a slight adjustment in your pressure range is needed, but that's not something I'd suggest without seeing some data.

Can you post a Sleepyhead screenshot?

OpalRose +1. Your numbers are fine. Now it's all about how you feel and can/will you tolerate treatment. If you are still not sleep well, then there is room to improve no matter what the numbers say.
