Feeling Discouraged

Feeling Discouraged
Hi All,

I was diagnosed with a mild sleep apnea with 17.2 RDI. Spo2 dipping to 87%.

I was set up with an APAP 5-15.

I started off trying a nasal mask, but quickly found out I was a mouth breather at night and switched to the f30i. I combined this with a chin strap.

I finally fell asleep for maybe a total of 45 minutes with that one before pressure woke me up and I felt extremely nauseated and had to take the mask off. I also noticed that when falling asleep sometimes I would feel like I need to take a big deep breath and then it would take me out of that drifting off to sleep state.

They adjusted the settings to start at 6 so I wouldn't feel like I wasn't getting enough air when drifting off, but now I feel like I can't exhale at all!

The highest my pressure has gone with sleep is only an 8.

I have dysautomonia, GERD, and I suspect hypermobility so not sure if any of this is effecting it.

I want my quality of life back and I'm determined to make this work! Any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum Nospoons Smile

We will need to see a daily Oscar chart (link is in the sidebar), raise your min pressure to 8cm and turn on EPR 3 full time please. This will give you expiration pressure relief and enough air to open up your airway during inspiration.

We co need to see data from OSCAR. It is totally free at the top of the site.

But without seeing it let me give you settings to try.

Min 8
EPR set to full time EPR set to 3.

Give it at try you should feel better.

Please download and install OSCAR, put an SD card in your CPAP machine, and post some charts. Links for the process are in my signature to install OSCAR and formatting the charts for posting.

Will do thank you! Just gotta get an SD card.

In the meantime. They said they turned my EPR off because of my nausea and possibly aerophagia?
