LeeRex, before throwing in the towel on CPAP, I'd recommend getting one of the many pulse oximeters that you can wear overnight. One that records your SpO2 and heart rate for review the following morning. Start a log of how you feel if/when you wake up during the night, when you wake up in the morning and throughout the day.
I'd be concerned if I felt well initially but found that the data showed otherwise.
I have complex apnea (oh joy!) and can go for weeks without feeling poorly during the day. I am a light sleeper though, and I wake up more often during the night off-PAP. After a couple weeks, I slowly start to decline.
Why/how do I know this? I had a wisdom tooth suddenly become overly sensitive. Whenever I put the mask on, the whole right side of my face was throbbing in excruciating pain within a half-hour. Had to (hurry up and) wait to see my dentist, found it wasn't an abscess, or fixable, then wait to schedule an extraction. Then, of course, wait to heal up.
I seem to be on a very slow rollercoaster of off-PAP -> feel bad, back on-PAP -> feel good. I've been called weird before and don't deny it.
On masks...
I just started trying the ResMed AirFit F30i about a week ago. So far, I really like it. I have used the ResMed AirFit N20, ResMed Quattero, ResMed AirFit F20, Fisher & Paykel Evora, ResMed AirFit F30, and now the F30i. These are listed in order of "hate it" to "love it". I could never use a nasal pillow or nasal mask because I can't keep my pie-hole shut. And the soft cervical collar was a no-go as I felt like somebody was choking me. So that was about a 30-minute experiment in terror.
Please keep us posted. And post some zoomed-in OSCAR screen snapshots too.
