First time therapy, settings and progress
RE: First time therapy, settings and progress
Shernenk, did you buy from CPAPspecials? They have provided very good prices to international members in AU, Canada and EU, and sell the Vauto at about $1000 USD.

Negative, I got it from a Canadian online retailer, $1700 CDN, the vendor you mention lists that unit at $1410 CDN, free shipping but then a big question mark about duty/import fees.  I'm pretty comfortable with my decision.  I did get quite lucky though, I checked 4 online retailers, 3 of them were approximately $2500 CDN and I happened to stumble upon (the last one i checked) a vendor with a sale on at $1700.  Thanks for the intel though, it would have definitely been a good savings had I not found that sale.

Looking at our geographical location, there is a very good chance we share the same pollens, volcanic dust and allergens in the air that we breath, that possibly leads to our shared pollen allergy and asthmatic experience. Big Grin

In the mean time you should request your very own copy of the Clinicians Manual for the ResMed AirCurve 10 VAuto.

     https://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p...tup-manual

Half way down the page you will find a quick entry guide and a reference to the bottom of the page. Go to the bottom of the page, Request your copy.

When you get the Clinicians guide you will find that you have control over timing of the inspiration, trigger and cycle sensitivity controls, Vsync to compensate for unexpected leaks. Not to mention that EasyBreath technology that will ease you into every breath you take.

You see, as you introduce Pressure Support to suppress the Flow Limits that cause your pressure to increase under Auto control, you are introducing additional volume of air into your lungs and sweeping the CO2 out, therefore your chances of Central Sleep Apnea Events increases, so you will have to increase the timing sensitivity to ensure you keep the CSA Events under control. in the meantime you will get to see CSA detection utilizing Forced Oscillation Technique (FOT).  FOT is an oscillation of approximately 1 cmH2O at ~4 kHZ,  riding on the dynamic pressure of your therapy to determine if you are experiencing a Obstructive or a Central Sleep Apnea. If it is an OA Event, your machine will want to increase pressure under VAuto, but if it is a CSA Event it will not increase pressure.

But you will be able to see the crest of your Flow Rate wave shapes gradually plump up and restore that full breath you have been waiting for as Pressure Support is increased.

It will be an educational opportunity you will not regret.

Enjoy the Ride.

Manual requested, fingers crossed this pressure support is my missing link, my OSCAR's have been great other then the flow limitations, almost no leaks last night, .60 AHI but just feeling crappy, not enough REM or Deep Sleep.

Thanks again!

Sooooo, I just cancelled my order with the Canadian Online retailer and ordered from your suggestion.  4 days after order and nothing had shipped, I call, at first they tell me they are backed up in shipping but one of the items I ordered may not be in stock "let me check".  Sure enough the machine is not available and "on order" so 2-3 weeks before they have stock...no thanks and I sure appreciate the heads up (there was none  1 ) .  I cancelled and ordered from CPAPspecials.

Thanks for the lead, I think it will end out working out for the best.

UGH, Canadian Vendor just offered me an AirCurve 11 VAuto for the same price as the AirCurve 10, apparently it is quite new.  I know most folks recommend the Airsense 10 over the 11 based on proved track record, I assume that holds true for the AirCurve version.

OSCAR is not yet configured to properly read the AC11's data.  With you already owning an AS10, all your supplies will fit the AC10. . . Unless you have a thing for buying all new stuff.

I don't really care to have the newest machine, my instinct is to stick with the AC 10 - thanks for the input, you have re-enforced what I knew to be true.

RE: First time therapy, settings and progress
My wife recently received the Airsense 11 Autoset and is very pleased with it. The machine is very quiet and seems to provide the same therapy as her Airsense 10. I don't have any experience with the Aircurve 11 Vauto, but I have been too harsh on this series before getting up-close and personal experience. It seems to be a good device. In any event, let us know how your transaction works out. I have not heard a negative on CPAPspecials yet, but they are relatively new.

So the lesson learned, is to let the wife be the Beta tester in the family.
