Fisher and Paykel Solo

I used several of the Wisp masks.  I ended up with an issue on my nostril that had to be surgically removed.  I've tried the ResMed P30 pillow mask. Actually both versions.  My AHI went sky high.  I'm back using my N20 mask. And Knightsbridge cap...I hate wearing so much gear. I'm a mouthbreather too. Diagnosed 35-40 years ago as severe OSA.

Why use a nose one if you are a mouth breather, couple ffm with good deal and hold your jaw quite well. If you like nose try Eson 2 it's very comfy ?

I tried it and was not happy with it. I don't thing it is good for side sleepers.
I turn furing the night and it would loosen. It really doesnt tighten itself adequately in my opinion.

I used a nightguard and a cervical collar regularly until the mouth breathing stopped. Now I don't need to use the cervical collar. I really think a nightguard is helpful. There are web-based companies who make a good nightguard and don't charge up the wazoo like a dentist does. I think I paid around $100 for mine.

I respect your use of the mask you suggested. I wouldn't consider, let alone use any of that company's products due to their serious deception around their cpap machines.

Thanks for responding.

Breathing through the nose has 2 distinct advantages over mouth breathing.   First, breathing thought the nose cause the body to produce nitric oxide (NO), a vasodilator gas, that is then transferred for absorption by the lungs.  Secondly, the nose preheats the incoming air, so the lungs can achieve the best oxygen transfer efficiency.

Too much information???   Huh

Excuse me? When have I said differently? I asked why that person is using a nose mask if that person is a mouth breather. To use a FFM you still breathing through your nose it just also covers the mouth issue. I'm a mouth breather if I use a nose one I can't sleep because my mouth gets so dry and I choke from lack of oxygen. So what's best? Trying to force using the nose one or get a better sleep using a FFM? Would be a common sense thing don't know about you ?

Sorry! I didn't mean to get you all upset. The way I read your post, I understood it to mean, "why bother to try and breathe through your nose?".

@Vako

I’m a mouth breather too. My best results are achieved using a nasal mask. Resumed n20 medium size. Then I (seldom) tape my lips or use a Knightsbridge dual band cap. It took me years to discover my secret. I need to cinch up the Velcro at the back tight. I posted lots about bad luck with this cap. I asked Larry for help too. I had bought 2 together for my first purchase. If I’m not careful the cap slips down over my eyes. That’s why that adjustment is so important. Biggest issue? Mask strap marks that last hours and hours as the cap embosses my cheeks

I’m claustrophobic. I bought a full face mask. F&P Evora full. I can enjoy 2 good nights sleep. Then without warning I have several nights of heck and go back to the nasal mask

Finally, my DME supplier has been sold. They no longer offer trial masks. Their cost was $275 for a ResMed N20i. Medium. No fitting required. Sealed in a bag. My favourite staff member has been terminated.

I need a new local DME Supplier in Mississauga that has skill and free loaners. Canada, eh?

My story is not important. But my path to effective treatment is one rocky road. I spoke up to voice my respect for those who answer. I feel like a newbie. Been compliant for almost 40 years. Some day I’ll make treatment work

RE: Fisher and Paykel Solo
Dave, so sorry you have these mask issues.  The hardest thing about cpap is definitely the mask.  I have tried so many masks over the years hoping to hit on the perfect one.
I don’t know why they don’t use 3d mapping or something a kin to this to get each person a custom mask.  Hang in there, I also have great nights and lousy nights.
