Struggling with leaks Resmed F40

RE: Struggling with leaks Resmed F40
trie the F40 for almost a month now, and beleive me I tried so many FFM through the past 5 years, none gave me a decent sleep, I need at least 6 hrs with the mask to be able to function, and i always get less, becasue pain/leaks etc..

first few nights of F40 and felt lit this is the one I was waiting for all my life Smile

but hen issues started to happen, after maybe 405 hrs of adjusting, i was able to get comfrotable enough nto to get the pain toward my nose neither too much pressure behind my neck.
yes a 1 inch change MADE a difference.

then leaks started, alwsy around the edge of my right nostril.
i am side sleeper, and was the mask with mild babay shampo daily, ia lso use buckwheat pillow to adjust it.
i tried putting another pillow on my left side ( when i sleeep on right side) to kind of sandwich my head to stop leaks, my nose gets oily and i think mask looses friction hold becasue of that.

i got a liner from pad a cheek, and leaks were from everywhere, i think bc cushion is silicone the liner, can not stay (ironed), cushion is designed to "stick" to your face, so liner made it worse, 6 hrs trying at night to sleep more than 30mns worse.

i am trying to use a deodorant on my nose now, yes a natural deodorant that can stop the oilliness, it did stop the oiliness, leaks are less, but now cushion is not "stickig" as goog as it was bc the thin fil the dodorant does.

I can not use a nasal mask or pilow mask ( iw ish) bc tongue surgery, air keeps entering my mouth and puffing my cheeks and waking me up even my mouth is taped ( my lips drop as soosn as i fall asleep).

so i have been "trying" to sleep for the past 5-6 years with the machine, and it has been hell for me.

F40 eliminates the cheeckbone pain from the plastic in other hybrid masks, but i still can't keep it on my face long enough.

i read the comments here and the original post, and yes everyone is different, i tried the SW cushion and it was too "close" to my nose, although the bottom fits right, the bottom needs to fit righ on the bottom edge of my lip not to leak fro mthe bottom. I tried cutting the middle plastic piece between the two nostrils holes, but still the width of the mask is wider than the medium, again most of my leaks are from the right edge of my nostril so it did not work.

with the mdium mask i push the bottom up to the bottom lip, and place the top of the cushio right under my nose, it stays in place, no leaks, i fall asleep, then either the oilliness or the cushion or the straps "relax" , i tried a new cushion wit hthe "deodorant", still had enough leaks to distrub me from getting any rest.

whiel asleep tightening the bottom straps seem to stop the right nostril leak momentarely, but then leaks return with vengence, so i have to keep the top straps in the original adjusted position ( the one that took 5 hrs to adjust).

i'm really out of tricks.. hope someome can sugggest somthing here

RE: Struggling with leaks Resmed F40
I acquired an AirFit F40 a few weeks ago. It was okay and I had hopes that it would be my go to mask. But, I'm back to using my AirFit F30 mask.

I've been using one now for quite a good long while. The only masks that I have tried are the F20, F30, and the F40. I have all three on hand and can swap back & forth as I find necessary.

I'm a side-sleeper and all three tend to do pretty well, as far as staying in place. I do though, still make minor adjustments while sleeping.

RE: Struggling with leaks Resmed F40
I have been hunting for a full face mask for those times when nasal congestion inteferes with the use of my Res Med N-30. Intrigued by the hype around the new F-40, I bought one soon as it hit the Canadian market. Unfortunately, I cannot stop it from leaking and more concerning my AHI went from an Average of 2.3 to 24/26 psi.  I had similar leak issues with the f-20, F-30 and F & Ps Evora - unable to wear tem throughout the full night due to leak and discomfort. My therapists has suggested it may be anatomical issue. I will continue with my nasal mask collection and deal with congestion when/if it arises.
